I cant wait till the Jets move on from Fitz and give the job to Gino. I would rather that happen and we suck then win 8 games just to see you people freak out. Come on Woody, have some balls for once. Fuck Fitz go with GINO!!!!!

Right now its probably a better bet that Riyan is our qb.

I agree that for the amount of hate Geno has gotten, its had me become a contrarian this offseason. Fitz will never get anything but marginally better running this offense. If he came back at 10 mil on a team friendly contract I would support his return. I disagree that this is a "win now team". We went 10-6 last year and lost pieces, not gained. What makes us win now? Because we have a couple older receivers?? We can find new ones after they retire. Our offensive line is certainly not in "win now" mode.

The way I look at it is this, we roll the dice with Geno as he's cheap and we don't have to jeopardize future seasons from his salary. If he sucks, well we'll know we won't miss him as his contract expires. Additionally, we'll benefit from a good draft pick and lots of cap space next year. If he succeeds, that's awesome! Let's resign him and have QB competition with 3 young QBs next year. Either way, our schedule this year is brutal, and as much as I hate looking into future seasons, it might be wise to look to 2017 for us to make some noise again.

If GeNo can open the season with wins... he'll get mucho respect.

Now... thats if Fitz doesn't return or gets beat out by GeNo in camp.

We can continue to sit Gino, which means he's gone after this season. Which means some other team will pick him up. Which means Gino will win a SB with some other team. Fucked if we do, fucked if we don't.

Only this fanbase calls for tanking after a 10-6 season.

On the other hand, half the fanbase will be angry if we don't pay for Ryan Fitzpatrick to be our QB

    Jets fans :D

So why is it assumed that starting Smith equals losing?

Ask anyone who isn't a Jets fan to rank the NFL starting QBs from 1-32. Odds are Geno's 32. Does that answer your question? :)

There you go. One person agrees out of 5 pages of abuse. You think I want to sit through another year of Geno crapping in his pants. Its probably 75-25 he sucks but I believe its worth the chance based on our current salary structure and Fitz MO. This is my 36th year of going to games, I am at the end my rope with this shit but what's best is best. I was not just posting this out of boredom or being a troll. Its how I feel and as along time poster I am entitled to my opinion.

And where do you think Fitzpatrick would be?

I would take Fitz over the starter in Cleveland and Denver and that's it...every other team in the league has a better QB on their roster

What other team has a worse starter?

This thread needs to merge with the resign fitz thread.
Not because it is the same shit being said but because without it we may not hit the 250 page mark we were on pace for

NFL.com ranked Fitz 14th in the league last year. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000619129/article/qb-index-yearend-rankings Heck, even PFF with hates Fitz had him 25th. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-pffs-2015-nfl-quarterback-rankings/

Fitz was 23rd in passer rating, 12th in total QBR, and Football Outsiders had him 13th. So I would say several teams have worse starters than Fitz. Now can you find me QB list not written by a Jets fan or one metric that has Geno higher than bottom 5?

I think Fitz is better than Taylor, RG3, Osweiler, Sanchez, Bradford, and Gabbert. There are also other QBs I think Fitz is comparable to like Cutler and Alex Smith. And other QBs who I think Fitz will outplay in the next year or so but who have much more potential like Bortles and Bridgewater. OTOH I would take Geno over RG3, Sanchez, and Gabbert and that's pretty much it.

thats actually not true. Indy tanked hard after a 10-6 season in 2011. Their fanbase was strongly on board and calling for it all the way. They ended up with Andrew Luck.

They called for it because Manning got hurt. Not really applicable to our situation.
