I agree, but one thing that should be considered was when Geno was a rookie, I thought he scrambled far more and was effective in doing so, even more then Fitz. Geno had 6 rushing touchdowns that year. He's damn indecisive and that's a big problem. Running is a complete last resort. Fitz knows pretty much the options he has prior to the snap. That's what made him a good QB last year.
Alex Smith/Andy Dalton are exactly what I hope Geno can be for us this year. Neither of those guys is going to light the world on fire on an average team, but given elite weapons and creative offensive minds, paired with a top flight defense, they can consistently lead a team to the playoffs. I think Geno is comparable physically to them, can he give us that level of production? I'd be ecstatic.
Let's face it, we are not winning a Super Bowl with Geno [note spelling]. In fact, last year, at his very best, he could not get off the bench while Fitzpatrick needed surgery and wore a mitt. I doubt he will be even that good this year. So to have him play the GM can take a day off and not need to figure out a workaround for the cap. I don't think so. I am not a Fitzpatrick apologist but I do listen to what the coaching staff has to say. He (Smith) was never ready to start 3 years ago and the current staff has done nothing to indicate this has changed. Add all the offensive weapons in the NFL you can and of course, he sucks. For once and for all I think it's time we just admit this guy can't play. No excuses, we have other weapons and Fitzpatrick knows the system. With either QB, we probably won't go deep in the playoffs this year but the best opportunity for accomplishment is not with Smith. BTW, we should do it because the coaching and management have the balls to do the right thing that gives the team the best chance to win without being worried about what the media and fans think when Smith is finally cut. So let's quit worrying about Fitpatrick's salary versus our own and let the GM make the best deal that can win the most games this year.
We aren't winning one with Fitzpatrick either, we couldn't even get in with Fitz last year. What I believe is if Geno can improve, he's going to be just as good as Fitz IMO with the potential to take us over the top because he can make any throw in the book. I question his desire to continue playing. Fitz @ 16M is a complete waste of a contract for a QB that has that many limitations. Geno improving likely won't happen, but as a fan I am willing to see what happens with this offense and CS.
The offensive coordinator sure as hell didn't say that. The CS wants him to MATURE and EARN the job. That is why Bowles doesn't want to name Geno the starter. Gailey has supported Geno since day 1.
Bowles doesn't want to name Smith the starter because Bowles wants Fitzpatrick to be the starter because he gives the team the best chance to win the most games. You can jump through all the hoops you want and make the most circuitous arguments you can but that doesn't change anything based on reality.
The reality is Fitzpatrick more than likely ain't walking through that door, Bowles can say whatever he wants, he is not the GM. Reality is preparing for the situations such as this if you are an NFL HC, to have a plan B and C. You can jump through all the hoops you want and make the most circuitous arguments you can but that doesn't change anything based on the fact that Fitzpatrick is not under contract.
that's quite original. I figured you were into scat porn because you always mention the word shit, but I didn't expect you to like guy on guy scat porn too.
