Buddy was great for the game of football. RIP. As I understand it he was in poor health for quite some time so there is some relief in death. I wasnt around to remember when he coached here but I sure enjoyed watching him for other teams and I will always remember when he punched out Kevin Gilbride in our 1993 finale in Houston
^ And Gilbride's probably right, but at the same time he's an insecure jerk to even think he needed to save face.
Always agree with you Joe but not this time Gilbride did nothing wrong and should have knocked the fat bloat right on his ass
No argument here Matt. Ryan went off the deep end and was totally at fault. But fwiw, Buddy after throwing that glancing so-so haymaker of his was a sitting duck himself and Gilbride could've clocked him with a straight right if he felt the need to. And while he was obviously surprised and taken aback by Ryan's meltdown, Gilbride was also the bigger man and didn't feel the need to respond in kind so his "I could've/would've" years later came across to me as somewhat of a hollow attempt to save face - jmho. Anyway, out of curiosity I checked out their respective ages at the time: Gilbride was 43, Ryan was a month short of 60 (with a 60 inch. waist ). Big edge: Gilbride.
no doubt but in NFL's "A Football Life" Gilbride alluded to it as well. They back him up with a reporter who says he would've kicked Buddy's ass and Gilbride says he wished it unfolded differently. Watch it here, pretty cool http://www.nfl.com/videos/a-footbal...5/A-Football-Life-Houston-93-Gilbride-vs-Ryan
