Yeah, the "WTF" wasn't directed at you, really toward amazon for charging that much.

And the skeleton of Shea could have been rebuilt into a Jets only stadium after CitiField was built. Fuck the Giants, they would have had to build their own. And if Shea was rebuilt they wouldn't be in the fourth or fifth decade of talking about taking out the junkyards and chop shops across the street, that would have been the main parking area.

No way you could've retrofit Shea into a modern football stadium. It was inadequate for that purpose from the day it opened.

Yeah, you could have, maybe even with a roof. Field moved a little more into the closed end, boxes added on both sides. Maybe even club rooms and restaurants added to close in the other end. Don't think of it as it was. Another scenario might involve turning the field 90 degrees and bringing a new straight section across the opening.

Visionaries do these things all the time; but nobody ever accused any Jets ownership after Werblin of being visionaries.

That sounds more like a tear down and rebuild than a retrofit. Still a billion times better than that shithole in Jersey.

Shea was actually pretty state of the art when it opened, what with the box seats on tracks that could be rotated out into right field to create a football stadium.

Not a total teardown, but I did say to the skeleton; I guess that's a gut renovation.

Actually two sets of seats moved. Those parallel to the foul lines were both moved towards the outfield until they were parallel to each other, framing the football sidelines. The area vacated by them behind home plate was filled in with bleachers and bleachers were also added behind the "center field" end zone. I sat in those outfield bleachers the first year I had season tickets and was moved to the closed end bleachers for the rest of my time. I could never get them to move me to a real seat which was part of the reason I left.

I've sat in the box seats at Shea late in the (football)season. If there was a more miserable place on the planet, I hope to never find it. Those seats sucked. Too low to the field, couldn't see over the bench. Cold wet wind wipping off the sound.

Citifield and the upper deck of Shea would have been 18 inches apart.

So frustrating they never built that complex on the West Side. It would've been an incredible complex, allowed us to have our own stadium, and actually be able to claim New York City and New York State (outside of Buffalo of course) to ourselves.

Instead we get to share the shittiest modern stadium on Pro Sports with our big brother.

Now someone on TGG is exaggerating, imagine that. But CitiField could have been built 200 feet away, right?

I love the idea that some mecca of football worship would have been built in NY where property values are even worse than NJ and Woody Johnson would probably be bankrupt in 2016.

Trump would have probably bought the Jets instead of run for president at this point.

And Hillary would have gotten laughed off the ballot.

Come to think of it, that fucknut Dolan needs to be tortured to death. Now.

Not an exaggeration. That was exactly what I read.

Who knows how far away it could have been built, but obviously the Wilsons didn't care.
