BWHAHAHAHA...... a fence?!?! around a huge lake............ connected to other lakes? Stick to football, because you've officially "Jumped the Shark"....errr gator
All they have to do is have the access ways from their resort to the lake fenced. This isn't hard. A few signs, a fence. It works. People don't get attacked by alligators they didn't know were there when the resort takes a few appropriate measures to prevent that. Of course that spoils the tourist brochures, and I'm guessing that is what was going on here.
Who would stay at a resort with gators roaming freely? I bet they don't even warn when you check in. Sent from my BLU LIFE ONE X using Tapatalk
The Florida wildlife people have pulled a half dozen gators out of the lake near that resort at this point looking for the one that killed the boy. How could Disney not have put up a "Watch Out for Alligators" sign when the lake is apparently full of them? I mean seriously, the damn lake is full of gators and the sign says "No Swimming". WTF?
Don't leave NYC, because this time of year, there's a strong chance that most non chlorinated bodies of water in FL have a chance of alligators...... I've even seen them in salty ones. But the DOT is putting a "Beware of Alligators" on the state line on I-95 & I-75 so everyone will be safe
They built a big hotel with a nice well maintained beach next to it. It looks like a safe place to relax with your family so long as you follow the warning about not swimming. They knew their were alligators in that water and should have warned people about the danger. I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise. If you put a pond in your back yard and knew there were alligators in it, you'd warn visitors before they went in your back yard.
45 years and 2 attacks. Guess it hasn't really been a problem. But thats irrelevant. Someone must be blamed so lets make it the faceless corporation, its easier to deal with that way
I've heard that it's been more than 2, it's just that Disney owns the media down there. That's just word of mouth from someone who used to live in the area though.
So you wouldn't tell your friends who dropped over with their 2 year old anything but "don't swim in the pond". That seems unlikely.
Hilton Head, S.C., Lake Osceola on the campus of the 'U' ..... around water down there, they're there no matter where : )
Maybe. Quick google only turned up 1 other one at the fort wilderness camp site. Long time ago,kid lived.
I've golfed at a ton of courses down in Florida and I wouldn't even think about trying to retrieve a ball out of the water. _
Disney is absolutely liable by creating a hazard and not warning their customers of that fact. They made the lake. They made the beach. They furnished it with chairs and lights and entertainment to entice people to spend time there. They were aware that alligators inhabited the area and they did nothing to inform the customers of the hazard they had created. A "Please No Swimming" sign lacks the specificity to warn the customer of the predatory danger. Disney promotional materials show people wading in the same water and there is no record of Disney employees telling people to not wade in the shallows - a first class example of an "attractive nuisance."
