disney I'm sure puts in the work to keep that lagoon clear of gators ..: but being connected to other bodies of water they can still find their way in. You usually don't find gators in salt water, but here in myrtle beach we've had 2 over the last 2 years that have found their way into the ocean and were swimming along the shore line about 50 feet out
Disney is going to clear those waterways of gators and some Islamic radical fuck is going to flush baby gators down his toilet in Mickey Hotel. _
I've been to Disney many many times . I know all about Florida and its gators , I would also just never go in water that said no swimming nor would I let my kids. Common sense says sign is there for a reason. But I also would never have thought there would be a gator in that area. Not surprised by it, but wouldnt have thought
Likewise , but I also know that any body of water in that part of the state, outside of a swimming pool , there's a good chance a gator is in that water. To me thats common sense , to some hicks from the midwest that probably never heard of alligators before this week , it might not add up. I feel awful for the family. Cant imagine that happening. It just adds up as very irresponsible to me.
for the one year that i lived in Jacksonville, i never once saw a gator. and the six times i ventured near Orlando, the most ferocious thing were the traffic jams on Interstate 4
Ya know. I actually agree. It was very irresponsible. I wouldnt let my teenage daughter near a lake, pond, or anything thats not a pool or clearly an ocean beach. I cant image that they thought it would be a good idea to not make sure the 2 year old wasnt close either. Gators are quick. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
I'm thinking that the family from Nebraska were not hicks but probably well educated people but I admit that I'm profiling here just because they were staying in what has been described as the most expensive hotel at Disney World. I would place the "very irresponsible" tag on the Disney Corporation for looking out for their image and marketing rather than safety by not identifying the risk of alligators on any signage as is done all over Florida in both public and private areas. When a company creates an artificial environment it's not a stretch to consider that all hazards have been controlled.
I was just at the Grand Floridian last fall for a wedding. As drunk as I got it would not have been suprising if I had fell in the damn lake. This all could've been avoided for that poor Nebraska family if the damn disney bartenders didn't cut me off at the bar. The alligator would've gotten me first. sue disney, blame the bartenders.
Clearly the parents did not provide the child with proper alligator training, which is unfortunate. These things happen from time to time. While I oppose alligator safety locks (they defeat the whole purpose of having an alligator, and the practice is also inhumane,) children need to be taught responsible alligator use from a young age. If everyone had an alligator or crocodile, nobody would be bitten by alligators. Personally, I carry my 8 foot long American Crocodile whenever I'm heading to swamplands, and I keep a Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman in my ankle aquarium at all times. Because of this, I've never had a problem with alligators, crocodiles, or sharks.
Another mom has a masters in public health or something. She shared some pics just before the attack. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Oh wow that hurts just looking at it. I can't imagine the pain and suffering and guilt the parents must feel. Hug the kids tonite all. _
