The only thing I worry about with Revis is his level of play and the money he's receiving. I understand he had a wrist injury, so hopefully he can play a little better late in the season. We may need to start putting him on #2 corners and let someone like Marcus Williams or even Milliner take on the #1 receiver with safety help.

Sheldon was the odd man out when he said him and Mo BOTH deserve Suh money, that stuff needs to stay within the locker room, and he needed to keep his mouth shut.

You talk about the Watt deal as if history has already been written. They will go into every game with the best defensive playmaker in the game every time. I wouldn't count that organization out by any means. Just because they've won 8 or 9 games the last 2 years doesn't mean that's their ceiling with Watt

I think it is encouraging but not that surprising or completely altruistic. He's still rehabbing his leg, nothing like free medical help and physical therapy!

Jags just paid Malik Jackson, so by that theory the Jags shouldn't be winning games, nor should the Texans. The Titans or Colts should be winning the division each and every year since they aren't paying players large contracts.

I am honestly shocked that these young professionals actually want to get PAID.

When did the NFL become a culture of money grabbing?

Last century, that's when. Holy shit Brad.

agree with the bold. That's what Belichick did with him for the most part too.
McCourty only had to worry about 1/2 of the deep field, which gives the D lots of flexibility.

felt we should've been doing more of that last year, especially against the really fast young WR's..

did Sheldon say he would take less money to stay with the Jets? He thinks he's on Watt / Suh's level. He wants to be paid accordingly

The fast ones are the scariest for us. The Dez Bryants don't scare me as much, but the Watkins puts fear into the heart of Jet fans.

sheldon will not make more money then Mo, not at this stage at least, and i said in my last post, the jets control sheldon for two more seasons at a decent price (a lot cheaper then mo) and could tag him for the 3rd.

That I believe we are all aware of however that doesn't solve the issue in terms of extending Sheldon after those 2 years, you can tag him the 3rd year which might be higher. This still opens up a chance where you don't have both Mo and Sheldon in the future. You still have to hope Sheldon also stays out of trouble as the next toke is a year ban.

If they wait a year and then pay Sheldon big bucks instead of Mo, I'm going to be annoyed. Mo is the clearly superior player at this point, and has zero off field issues. It makes me cringe thinking about the Jets giving Sheldon a big pay day and then he suddenly fails a drug test and is gone for a year. That would be same ol Jets. I'd like to think Mac could structure a contract to pay Mo a large part of his guaranteed money in 2017.

Like when we paid Santonio and let Braylon walk. Dumb. Santonio couldn't even backflip.

The pont isn't to have the best defensive playmaker. The point is to win 12+ games and make a real run at a championship most years.

Look at the teams that do that and you'll quickly realize that defensive playmaking is vastly over-rated. When the defense is the key it's a lot of players on that defense and the team generally can't keep the expensive ones around for long under the capped system. It used to be different. The cap used to let you accumulate talent on one side of the ball and overload and win that way.

Why do you think the Broncos haven't signed Von Miller yet?

Because they don't think they can win with a team centered around him. They're not going to pay him a huge deal when they know he's just the spearhead on a great defense. They may surrender on that at some point but then they'll be doing the same thing the Seahawks did with Sherman, but minus the QB.

i understand what you're saying, but eventually you have to pay great players. if we believe leonard williams is going to be as good as we think, do we just not pay him either? what if we had a dominant receiver, do we not pay him?

our cap flexibility going into the future is fine, with aging players being taken off the roster. he's only 26 and should continue to improve. he's a true professional and someone that I'm proud is a jet.
