An entire summer of arguing the merits of Bryce Petty, Christian Hackenburg, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Geno Smith.

    Yep, same old Jets.

Is everyone forgetting Geno Smith was the worst rated QB for two straight seasons? Between him and Sanchez we had the worst rates QB for four straight years. I would rather take a shot with Nick Foles for the $1.7M he would cost. Foles had one of the greatest QB years ever in 2013 and over 60% completion rate during his career. I think Chan could turn him around and be way more successful than Smith could ever dream of. People say Smith had a great game and showed promise, I say Foles had an almost PERFECT season and with a good OC he could be ten times better than Smith.

The only way he will impress me, is if he is still on the roster come opening day. Say goodby the day we sign Fitz.

The fact that all reports indicate that the jets are front loading their offer to Fitz (guaranteeing 2016 only) plus the way Mac talks about Hack makes me think the plan for now is to start Hack or give him a real chance in 2017--I have read that several times. But since you apparently have all the answers, who do you think will be the jets starter in 2017? You'll probably take the easy way out and write "I don't know at this point." Easy for you to berate others without offering a position of your own--You'd make a good movie critic, Mr. Reality.

The thing is, I don't have all the answers and am the first to admit it. I certainly wouldn't be so arrogant to claim "Everyone knows the jets are planning to start Hack in 2017 and beyond anyway," based simply on what I think the plan is because of how somebody else's contract is being structured when much of the structuring is obviously based on salary cap considerations.

Make all the predictions you want for yourself but keep everyone else out of them unless you know what everyone else knows.

The Jets have no idea if they've got a starting NFL QB in Hackenberg. The odds are probably better on Geno being a starting NFL QB than on Hackenberg being able to do the job but they're low either way.

It's kind of scary that they drafted him in the 2nd all based off potential. If he can't fix his footwork and take some heat off his throws, Jets are in big trouble

What you fail to mention was the fact that Oakland secondary wasn't that good. Those numbers Geno Smith put up against them wasn't that impressive consider most Qb's had similar success all year against that secondary.

Geno Smith has always shown he could do well against the porous defenses/ teams. Can he do that against the better teams/defenses. That is the more important question.

The dumpster fire of negotiations with Mr Harvard was ignited by Mr Dartmouth Idzik when he drafted Geno There were much better, potential franchise QBs eg Carr T Bridgewater even mettenberg to be had in that draft

As fate would have it, Geno gets socked and 2015 is saved by Fitz, 10-6. Not a record, even with a supporting staff that GeNo could achieve imo

So here we are with the Jets bidding against themselves for a 34 year old who could poss get us into Playoffs..team is that good esp with new additions . Ideally Fitz gets his $ and is the starter. If all else fails do we go with the future i.e. Hack or Petty starting? hardly ideal but you know we will have a losing season with Smith so maybe you start one the kids midseason and keep your fingers crossed

I do like Mac but I am starting to believe that with only 3.6 mil in cap space that this is the result of overpaying/mismanagement of funds in 2015...i hope the GM finds a way and proves me wrong

I hope Fitz takes a smaller contract off this principle bullshit and goes somewhere and never plays then retires without ever touching a football field again.

Hackenberg was kind of like a Mystery Date pick. The Jets liked his football IQ and physical attributes and so they took a chance on him. However his accuracy is poor and he doesn't have good touch on his throws. It's really unlikely the Jets can fix that unfortunate combo quickly. He's probably a 3 year project and the Jets only have him signed for 4 years.

I'm hoping the Jets fully understand the commitment they made with the pick and that they don't plan for him to play this year and probably not next year either. It's always possible that Gailey and Patullo will pull a rabbit out of the hat for us but rushing Hackenberg is just as likely to get them fired as anything else.

Petty isn't lighting it up either in year two. When it comes to drafting Qb's, lets just say we have really, REALLY bad luck.

It's where we're picking the QB's and then some random luck on top of that.

We took Kellen Clemens on pick 53 and he was a bust as a starter.
We took Mark Sanchez on the 5 and he just didn't make it. He didn't meet the criteria of a normal 1st round QB, with not enough starts to really justify the pick. Then we got unlucky from there.
We took Geno Smith on pick 39 and so far he's been a bust as a starter.

There's no real reason to believe that Hackenberg is going to do better than Clemens did and Geno has done. If he was likely to be a good starting QB in the NFL he'd have been gone long before the 51 pick.

Geno also had an historically awful Wr corps to work with. I mean cmon.. Clyde Gates? Chaz Shilens? Kellen WinSLOW jr. ? Puleese..They had to be the WOAT. I'm as far from a Geno apologist as one can be but, you have to wonder why Geno was garbage. The kid HAD talent coming into the league but had no help. None on the field... None on the sidelines. None in the playbook. Outside of Brick, Mangold and Ivory, he had nothing on Offense to work with.

Now I know why you call yourself ralebird. You "rale" against anything someone else writes, but offer no "fly by night" predictions of your own. You call other people arrogant if they take a stand or make a prediction, but take no position yourself on anything. Feel free to respond, you can have the last word, knowing you it will be another personal attack like your first two posts.
