That's nice, except using your comparison, the industry average for glorified backup QBs is about 60K. 250K is reserved for the likes of Rogers and Luck. Fitz is nowhere near them. So 75K Mac offered if plenty good raise.
Yes, and Jets are offering him $12M, about 30% more than anyone would even consider paying him. It Fitz wanting to take Jets to the cleaners on the promise of one decent season. Same way he did to Bills 10 years ago. I'm happy Mac is not biting.
^ I usually think jerseyjay's opinions are lacking, but it takes a special kind of dope not to understand the difference between gameplanning and roster management. Raletard gets the brown star of the day.
SMH should not every year be "play to win now"????? I mean this is the NFL !! When you don't make the playoffs or SB you might use "rebuilding" as an excuse but the fundamental philososphy must be field the best team and win games All professional organiations want to field a winning product so that people will buy, sell tickets etc. Even with PSLs people will give up and not sign up with losing seasons Stokes is right..For myself I want to be excited and entertained during the best part of the year...not witness some dumpster fire, laughing stock of the league team with Mr Dummy GeNo Its entertainment guys not who deserves to be your HS QB...stop quibbling about Fitzs stats Is Fitz rookin us into a 38 mil deal? I don't think so So whats the problem?? I don't know details of sec and third year but I hear its 12 mil for first then 6 for last two=24 mil total Sounds good but if not give him a couple a mil more and call it a day
Yeah, I'm not buying this at all. Edit: well, I guess it's true. We're gonna overpay. As long as it's front loaded I don't think it's horrible. Hopefully we can cut him without a big cap hit after one or two years.
The key to any contract is front loading him. I doubt we see him in 2018 and mac needs the ability to cut ties inexpensively.
So, based on the previous rumours being correct, that's a 6m base salary for each of the three years with a 6m signing bonus. Year 1 and half of year 2 base salary guaranteed I'd guess. Works out at 12m cash in year 1, 8m cap hit each year (assuming he sees the contract out) and 15m guaranteed overall. If we cut him after year 1 though there's a 7m dead money cap hit in year 2 - signing bonus cap hit for years 2/3 and the extra 3m guaranteed. Cut him in year 3 and the dead money is 2m. Is that about right? Incentives were always being reported at some level I think. I don't know what impact these would have.
At this point, I am just happy with signing. I trust Mac to front load the contract. I do not want to go into training camp with Geno as the starter. I am done with that fool.
