If Hillary was really a strong candidate this wouldn't be happening to her over and over again, in 2008 and now 2016. She's really not a strong candidate. She's just the best figurehead for the Clintonistas.

If there really is some fire at the bottom of all the email smoke I'm going to be extremely pissed.

Scarborough is a dipshit though. Sorry I can't take anything that guy says seriously.

He essentially wants her to come out and apologize. Who in their right minds would do that??? She might as well give it completely up if she did that. The allegations being tossed around would be federal crimes. You apologize for things like inflammatory comments. Then you say "sorry, I made a mistake" When people are accusing you of federal crime you don't say that unless you want to have your career end and possibly end up in jail. Easy for Scarborough to say that from his cushy MSNBC chair...

It's a 3-alarm blaze from the standpoint of virtually anybody else. Hillary setup a private e-mail server in her basement, through which all of the e-mail she received as Secretary of State passed on it's way to her.

It's hard to believe anybody else wouldn't have been charged by now with whatever passes for reckless endangerment at least.

So your opinion is that she's only beating the rap so far because of her last name? I'm not buying it.

But if there is a smoking gun in there and she knows it but has been whistling past the graveyard all along and she's willing to drag the party down with her, well, then, I may just have to rethink Bernie.

There doesn't have to be a smoking gun. It could just be negligence and disregard for normal security protocols.

Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice both had private e-mail accounts as Secretary of State. They both had official e-mail accounts on the State Dept's e-mail servers also. They were both instructed to keep official business on the State Dept accounts. This meant that the State Dept had full control of their official e-mails and could maintain their statutory records retention and other functions required by law. There was a clear distinction between their official and private e-mails and the official ones could be protected in the same way all other official e-mail of the State Dept was protected.

Hillary may have had more than one e-mail account as Secretary of State but her official e-mail account was hosted on her own server in her basement. The person who had the job of securing it was a non-State Dept employee that she had hired by the State Dept to make him official. He couldn't report in the normal chain of command in the State Dept IT division because he was considered a political appointee and could only report to a political appointee far above him in the chain of command and outside of IT itself.

What she did was reckless at the heart of it and risked a real breach of communications to anybody who could hack into the e-mail of one of her friends. Somebody actually did this and that is why we know about the private server today.

Why did she do all of this?

Because she wanted to be able to read her official e-mails on her Blackberry. The State Dept was not willing to host an e-mail account connected to a Blackberry for security reasons and so we wound up where we are.

Does all of this actually disqualify Hillary Clinton from being President?

I guess that depends on how willing you are to have the person running the country tell her security people "it's my way or the highway".

No, I mean smoking gun in the sense that there turns out to be real evidence that she used this set up for some illegal purpose. And the last year and a half of denials are all bullshit.

I'm fully on board with the sentiment that doing this was reckless and shows poor judgment. However if it turns out she's hiding something that when found will drive the party off the cliff with her, unforgiveable.

It is illegal to expose top secret information to potential scrutiny.

If she'd taken the e-mails home on a USB key she'd have been violating the law. People have been charged and convicted for removing top secret information from the protection of the government security infrastructure.

What illegal purpose do you think could possibly exist that is greater than the recklessness of doing it in the first place?

Planning bank robberies? Political assassinations? Participating in underground national dog fucking rings?

If you don't think that she's being protected by the Obama Justice Department, then you're not paying attention. Anyone else would have been indicted by now.

More like corruption or political dirty tricks that she wanted the ability to conceal the evidence of. That I can understand.

Really, I don't know. I just can't buy that she did it because she wanted to access her email via her Blackberry for christsakes.

I mean, who even uses a Blackberry?

More importantly, do we want a president who prefers a blackberry?

As much as I prefer Android, Blackberries are sturdy, dependable little fuckers compared to the run of the mill email apps on Apple devices and smartphones.

Or were, until Blackberry purchased Good and decided to embrace the Android world. Good is an unstable abomination of a platform.
