You do know that the income tax is illegal and the IRS just made it all up? Its true, typo's accountant says so.
So, let me get this straight. The GOP has not only allowed a hostile takeover of the party by Donald Trump but now a substantial portion of the establishment appears to be ready to drive the party into the gutter with him at the wheel in the name of party unity? I'm not talking losing the election, because he might lose and he might win, but lots of GOP regulars seem to be willing to back a candidate who is clearly the antithesis of everything they claimed to stand for? What a mess.
Well, right, but Hillary is closer in terms of worldview to most (maybe all) of the Neocons than Trump is. She's closer to the social mores of the RelCons than Trump is, and that's even if you believe she's a closeted lesbian. She's in the closet after all. It's unclear whether she's closer to the worldview of the Wall Street Supply Siders, but that's saying something big if you think about it. The only GOP groups she's definitely not closer to in terms of worldview are the Libertarians and the dispossessed white vote.
You are misunderestimating the irrational Hillary hatred. It's very real. I've voted for her twice and I really can't say I like her much.
I don't think the Hillary hatred is as widespread in the GOP as commonly portrayed. I think she fits with the RINO crowd just fine, it's just that the RINO crowd has become overwhelmed by the hard conservatives and now the populists. The Right Wing thought brokers have done a good job of moving the GOP electorate to the right but they haven't grown the electorate in that process. They've probably marginally shrunk it instead.
I think Hillary has got a VERY small group of people that actually like her. Others will vote for her because that's all they got to vote for. But the people that actually like her is very limited. The people that hate her really hate her. She's so lucky that she's going against Trump because people that hate him REALLY hate him too. So she'll get the "no way to Trump" people which she's gonna need because like I said there isn't a lot of "Go Hillary" people
I think Hillary is well-liked by many people, however the irrational hatred of the Right Wing has had an effect on her over time. Basically Bill Clinton could have run comfortably in the GOP circa 1988-1992 and he and Hillary would have fit there just fine, albeit on the left wing of the party. I think the GOP worried a lot about Bill and then Hillary splitting their base and so they decided to pursue a politics of personal destruction against both of them. I think that's why Hillary has the high negatives now. For older women in the baby boomer generation Hillary is fairly popular. Even very liberal older women are likely to forgive her the Walmart/Wall Street connection and have a good view of her.
How many? 40? 200? 1000? Sure that's "many" but I do not think that word means what you think it means. _
Does Trump get any non-white votes? Serious question; of course he will get some but I feel Hilary could landslide the election with black and latino votes. I don't stand for a party I am interested in the best candidate.
Rasmussen and Fox are bad barometers of public opinion this far out. They're always going to skew their polls towards the GOP if they have a chance because they're effectively part of the GOP establishment. Let's see what the horse race polls say in a month of two when a bunch of national contributors have put their work forward. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trump ahead of Clinton in national polls that have a bunch of undecided voters like these two. The GOP vote tends to be harder earlier in the process and they pick up fewer undecideds towards the end. That's because the GOP has harder positions to coalesce around initially and the things in the platform tend to be driving undecideds away instead of bringing them into the fold. I do not understand the NRA appearance by Trump yesterday. The GOP needs to expand the electoral map not contract it and they've reliably won the states where the NRA endorsement means something and reliably lost the states where it doesn't.
the fox poll has had hillary way ahead of trump for months. this is the first time trump was beating her
Trump is such a wild card none of the conventional analysis can reliably be applied. I think he's going to do a lot better among Hispanics than people think. He's going to pull a lot of votes nobody's really had a handle on before as well. Some of them will be non white. Add in the fact that half the world just hates Hillary unconditionally and you could see the perfect storm for Trump.
This is the first time they've had a poll when the GOP establishment was trying to rally behind Trump instead of slap him down. Think about it.
It wouldn't take a perfect storm to get Trump elected. I make it out as a 54-46 election in Hillary's favor right now and it's easy for that kind of electorate to evolve into a 50-50 electorate going into election night. All it would really take is for the situation around the e-mail investigation to intensify in ways that made independents less likely to hold their nose and pull the switch for her because Trump was the greater evil.
NBC polls trending the same way. http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box...-clintons-lead-over-trump-shrinks-to-3-points
