I know it's a highlight tape. I know they often don't tell the whole story. But I can't help but be excited about finally adding some speed to the linebacker position and seeing a guy fly around like this with our front 3 or 4.

The X-Factor in his development is really how he much he is going to benefit from playing behind all of these hogs. If he excels with these type of run stuffers in front of him, and Mo/Sheldon end up walking or being traded, we will need to make sure we continue to acquire big bodies up front. Not a comparison at all, but it's similar to how Ray Lewis was screaming for the Ravens to add someone and they went and got Ngata and prolonged his career.

I know he was drafted to be able to cover, but his pass rush skills look encouraging. It'll be interesting to see if he can use these skills against bigger/faster/stronger offensive lineman in the NFL.

Excited for the season, boys. Go Jets.

I was told many times on draft day that Lee doesn't rush from the edge, so your little video is an obvious fabrication.

Well I think the problem is, everyone was thinking we drafted him to be a Von Miller/DeMarcus Ware type of edge rusher, which is why his size got ripped apart because there's no way he could handle that responsibility on a down to down basis. It looks like he can rush from the edge in a huge wide-9 type of technique in blitz packages on 3rd down. Sort of like a safety blitz, only we'll still have two safeties back.

I know you get this, and are being a smart-ass so kudos.

That was pretty ignorant of them.

He's some kind of athlete. With Mauldin and Jenkins outside, Lee, Pryor, Skrine & Co. are gonna be all over the place. Bowles gotta be licking his chops. Fingers crossed that Mauldin and Jenkins are the real deal.

We're missing the really important point here - was Aaron Maybin ahead of his time?

    I need to know.

This kid could become a game-changer. Cover, blitz, stop the run. I mean that's Patrick Willis type shit. Him and Pryor flying around for the next decade is going to be amazing. We just about have the blocks on defense to be great for a long time [aka when Revis and Harris are gone].

  9. He doesn't just have speed....he has a burst this franchise hasn't seen in a long, long time. Loved the pick the second it was made & still do.

Too small. Gets pushed around. Obviously a half-down LB in the NFL. I didn't even have him on my spreadsheet.

He'll be playing in space making plays on the ball. Harris and Henderson will be doing that dirty work in the trenches

he isnt a pass rusher, and most of his pressures and sacks came on A/B gap blitzes, not on the edge where he had to beat a tackle or runningback. his value is as a sideline to sideline tackler. we got killed on offtackle runs, tosses, and sweeps last season. if he can be a sure tackler he has the sideline to sideline speed to make plays on the outside on runs and short passes and wont get killed in coverage.

as a pass rusher im sure you can sprinkle him in and he can do some good. but that isnt his role or his skillset

the video shows 2 players where he gets a sack/pressure as an edge rusher and one of them isnt even from last season.

the video is a good indication of who he is though. he'll make tackles/ plays around the LOS on the edge on recievers and backs. we lacked that, he can help us there for sure

Yes I understand that, but he does look to have somewhat of a pass rush arsenal, regardless if he won't be asking to consistently do it. He looks like he will be able to operate as an A gap Blitzer and be able to beat his man with a move rather than simply as a free runner.
