At some point in the near future, Fitz's contract situation becomes too much of a distraction for the team and we have to move on. Pay me like a franchise QB or I will retire? GTFO with that shit. I can accept some level of posturing, but if he is truly prepared to retire over accepting a short term deal that will pay him upwards of $8 million per, then good luck to him in his next life. Where does the team fit into those priorities? How about making the playoffs? How about getting better to make sure you don't fold when it matters? I like Fitz, but I'm getting really tired of his BS and I imagine the team is too.

And an incentive laden deal only works when you're paying a guy well below market but the possibility exists that he could win the job and seriously outperform his deal (i.e. RGIII). In Fitz's case, he's the starter if he signs, he's unlikely to seriously outperform last year, and his market has been set (i.e we are the only team who wants to pay him starter $).

Bart Scott is so fucking awesome. Fitz is losing $$$ by the day, I hope the Jets pulled that offer that gave him 10M ... at this juncture he needs to pay the price for playing hard ball that's about 5M loss IMO. 2 yrs 10M or GTFO

Thanks! I agree that he's spot on. I think the bottom line is that Fitz knows that he sucks and can't or won't change how people perceive him. He knows he's going to be facing a lot tougher defenses this season and the likelihood, is that he will look worse and will continue to choke in big games. He was hoping he could cash in and then wouldn't care what people would say about him, but at half the price, he's either hoping against hope that the Jets will get desperate and overpay, or he can just walk off into retirement and claim he didn't get the chance to show people what he could do because the Jets wouldn't pay him the going rate for QBs.

I'm about at the point that I've had enough of his nonsense too. I hope the Jets deadline for moving on is soon, and that they will indeed wish him a happy retirement and decide to go with Geno. I like McCown better than most, but don't want the JEts to give up any more draft picks. I'd rather just roll with Geno.

Fitz's agent is so desperate that he even got Gary Myers to say the Jets mishandled this situation. How much do you think it cost to get him to write that? I think many New York reporters are in the pockets of player agents.

Nobody's desperate. You guys act like the season starts tomorrow. Unless Joe Montana drops down out of the sky a deal will get done with Fitzpatrick and the Jets in plenty of time. It will be in the $8-10 million range and will be stacked with incentives.

Put me down for a base of nine and cash for starts, wins and playoffs, maybe more.

Maybe we need a new thread for everybody's predictions.

Completely agree... I said it somewhere in this post that I believe his agent is the problem... if he isn't and its Fitz, then time to move on take our lumps with GeNO and hope our young QBs step up.

Browns wouldn't want much for McCown. They'd gladly take his $5 million off the cap. Probably the same as the Fitz deal last year. They have Austin Davis who they signed to an extension and the 3rd rounder they just drafted. We need to buy time. Geno is not the answer. Macc and Bowles know this.

I doubt Fitz' agent needed to do that. Gary Myers is such a Giants dick-sucking Jets hater that he'd do it on his own.

How many ads for his worthless book did he stick in between the paragraphs of the article?

Cross Internet users with New Yorkers with football fans and you get a pretty impatient bunch. If Fitz isn't here by July we move on. Otherwise get on with your life and quit dumping on the guy. He hasn't missed anything of importance.

I'm at the point now where not signing Fitz is a foregone conclusion. If he was willing to deal with us he would have. Both sides are waiting for the other to cave in and I don't see that happening.

Our FO fucked the duck by not signing Hoyer who we could of had for $3M or less. I say find out what kind of conditional pick the Browns would want for McCown. Probably a 7th next year, maybe up to a 6th if he starts 8 or more games. Get a possible deal setup and go to Fitz, give him 24 hours to sign or remove the offer on the table and trade for McCown. See if Fitz is really ready to throw $10 away for pride.

Other than the Fitz posse of Decker Marshall and maybe Mangold there are probably many players on team that cant say what Scott just did but want to.

Hard to believe but its not Brandon Marshall or S Richardson dividing the locker room but Ryan Rasputin and his agent smh

Someone will post he has a right to ask for as much money as can negotiate lol but this is getting ridiculous

RF has gone from the penthouse to the s ht house with the fanbase that's for sure
