While I do think Cardale will have an NFL future, I dont think Rex will still be there for when his time comes.

Cardale is a bum. He should have cashed in last year after winning the championship.

Wow, only took him 4 throws to completely develop into an accurate passer. He's ready.

Seems like he's doing what most of us expected him to do so far. This is where the coaching kicks in...hopefully.

and if he was the highest player rated on the board? It has been said they tried to trade down but if he there these guys are going to stick to their board. I don't know how stupid that is when compared to the previous regime. I can't imagine why fans on this one player think they know best, better then football lifers? Could he be a bust yes but any taken could be a bust

See I think Cardale Jones will be out of the league in a couple years, especially now that he's with the QB killer in Rex.

The guy can't read defenses and absolutely telegraphs his passes. And they aren't all that accurate anyway. He has a hell of an arm and all the physical tools, yes, the inability to read defenses is crippling. He did well when they threw him in during the playoff, without expectation but they also didn't ask a whole lot of him- they allowed him to just rely on his athletic ability, make the throws & reads that were easiest and it worked. But that's not sustainable in the NFL. He needs a ton of work if he's going to have a future in the NFL

    1. It's silly to make the statement that "he can't read defenses" when really, you have no idea. You don't know what he was asked to do, you don't know what he did do, and you've never met or been around him in the meeting rooms so you don't know what his knowledge and capabilities are. The reason he was a bit of a draft enigma is because no one really knows what he can and can't do. So to make the statement that he can't do something is premature.

    2. I am personally not very confident the guy will turn into anything, but its the type of pick you take with a 4th round compensatory selection at the end of the round that you wouldnt have had in the first place. No risk. You dont take those type of players with your 2nd round pick like the Jets did. If he turns into nothing, the Bills dont really lose anything. If Hack turns into nothing, what a huge gaff. The two are not really comparable in any way IMO. They both probably have the same raw talent, but one guy you dont know if he'll be a success or failure because of inexperience, the other guy has experience but has proven he failed with the opportunity. Sign me up for the first guy with a later comp pick.

I've met and been around Mr. Cardale Jones a lot. We play croquet every Saturday. Sometimes we go out for sushi afterwards if we have time. He told me he doesn't know how to read defenses.

I wasnt comparing the Hackenberg pick to the Jones pick at all, because I dont think they are comparable at all other than playing the same position, just offering my opinion on Jones. Obviously dummy I know they were selected in different rounds.

    This is a huge gaff:

If Hackenberg turns out to suck I don't think he will be described as one of those...? Swinging and missing in the 2nd round could be described as a gaffe though. However "huge" would be exaggerating in my opinion. 2nd round picks flop every year

I kind of feel bad for the guy. He's going to be run out of town before he makes a start, in Jets nation form.

It's going to be pretty miserable hearing a bunch of haters who want him to fail rag on him for a few years regardless of what happens. Jet fans can be the worst.

Hopefully he can shut them all up.

Jets fans complain we never have a QB, but contribute to this by running every QB we have out of town from day 1 (for the most part).

I still believe in my gut that Bryce Petty will become a worthy battler for the QB1 position with this franchise

You can tell if a player can read a defense when you watch him at the line then watch him after the ball is snapped.

Jones can't read defenses RIGHT NOW hopefully, well actually not, Buffalo well Rex for that matter takes his time with a young Quarterback finally. He could thrive in that weather with his cannon.

It's possible, but it's going to take a long time IMO, and it may not be for Buffalo. Supposedly in the rookie minicamp this weekend they spent the whole practice teaching the guy how to stand. That's right, how to stand. I have no problem having the guy sit and learn for a while (like 3 years), but with the way coaching staffs and general managers turn over these days, and also how fans and owners expect results immediately or else people are gone, I don't think he will be allowed the luxury of sitting that long and learning. He may be on his second team when he figures it all out. I like the guy and love the pick, I just hope the fans, media and organization gives him the time to develop instead of throwing him on the field too early and then cutting him because he sucks.

You believe because you want to believe and I'm right there with you .

I really like the pick of Hackenberg . I just hope that between he and Petty , one of them becomes our QB of the future.

Agreed man, I read that Whalley and Rex are on the clock already so you might be right in that he will probably be on his 2nd team when he figures it out

At this point I'm not paying attention to how many passes are complete or incomplete. How many are overthrown, underthrown or on target.
Until the first pre season game the only thing I care about is that they keep working on his mechanics, especially the footwork. Mechanics are simply repetition, they won't be fixed overnight.
