LOL at Rambis being the only candidate. WTF is wrong with Phil? Is he really too stubborn to bring in a coach that isn't bottom of the league or at least look for one? Dude's senile. He shouldn't be president of anything.
I think a lot of it is Phil's ego. He's hellbent on trying to prove that the TRIANGLE works even when you don't have HOF talent on the roster. I'm sure he's heard the whispers about it being successful only because he had stacked houses in both Chicago and LA and probably took that as a challenge. The real question is, how long does Dolan go along with this? Rambis sucks as a coach because he sucks as a coach. If he's gonna be a surrogate for Jackson, how long before he's tuned out in the lockerroom? If I were Melo, I'd waive that no-trade clause before lunchtime today and GTFO of the MSG gulag ASAP.
We gotta get Vogel at all cost...He also worked for Phil for 1 year as a advanced scout in LA. He is a huge admirer of him and hired Brian Shaw on his staff. We must get him. On a side note, what a tool and dumbass Larry Bird is...Lets Vogel go and puts it on blast that Vogel told him to reconsider.
It would be very fitting if he joined the Knicks who later beat the Pacers in the playoffs. Hopefully Phil will at least have an interview. I doubt Vogel stays on the market long.
We're getting Rambis period. Jackson isn't even bothering to interview or call anyone else. If Rambis bombs this year, does Dolan pull the plug on the Jackson era and bounces both?
This is absolutely disgusting. Saw a report a few days ago that Rambis was out scouting with Jackson. Rambis is definitely going to be the guy. Carmelo isn't happy with this at all. For once, as fans we NEED Dolan to step in.
I don't see the Jackson Era lasting longer than this upcoming season if it looks anything like what last season looked like. If Rambis remains Rambis, this will be another lost season and I can't imagine Dolan not pulling the plug on this failure. Must be pretty hard for Jackson to accept that the game has bypassed him and his system. If he wasn't hell bent on proving that the Triangle works even when you have non-HOF players running it perhaps he could see this. His ego must be as big as Montana..
The only upside is that we have our pick next season. So a dreadful season could land us with another nice player alongside KP. It's ridiculous that Grant didn't get more time so we could see what we had in him.
I almost feel like Phil wants to get fired. I dont think he wants to be here at all, so by hiring a retard like Rambis, who has like a .275 winning %, he knows he is one foot out the door. I wouldn't even hire Rambis to coach a kids rec team, guy is a joke.
We'll Phil did meet Vogel last week...so he has been doing sneaky work. I think Phil may hire him if Vogel shows him love (kiss the ring) mantra
I really hope they sign Vogel. Jackson whiffed by not even reaching out to Thibs. Vogel is another guy who was unexpectedly available, is a proven winner, coaches tough defense and also holds players accountable. I think Jackson just loves Rambis because he sings the company line, but he is awful at drawing up time out plays and awful at assigning player time. The fact that Melo and others had to approach him just to give Grant and the other young guys minutes when the season is already lost speaks volumes about this guy's priorities. Rambis seemed to be just in it for himself, rather than caring about the future of the team. If Phil loves Rambis so much, he should keep him as an assistant. Don't bank the future on him.
I think that was just lip service. He can go back to dolan and say "Vogel is not a good fit for this team, kurt really has the pulse of the team and would be a better choice right now." Wouldn't be surprised if phil is using the coaching search as a tool to get himself fired
Ramblows keeps the heat off of Guitar Jimmy so don't be surprised if this entire clusterfuck of an organization stays in place as is for 2016.
