Russell Wilson is the only QB drafted after the 4th pick of the 2nd round since Peyton Manning was drafted who was *the* starting QB for his team his rookie year and became a star QB.

I might have missed somebody but a quick check back in NFL draft history produced ZERO QB's other than Wilson who were drafted after the 36 pick and were both full time starters their rookie season and stars afterwards. The closest were Ken Anderson (10 starts and several iffy years early on for the Bengals) and Steve Grogan (not a star) for the Pats.

Of note in the Christian Hackenberg question: Wilson was also a highly controversial pick as a QB. In truth the two of them are mirror opposites in college. Wilson had all the stats and wins but not the physical traits desired. Hackenberg has all the physical traits desired but was not able to put it all together with poor support from Penn State.

Gotta be in it to win it.

I like the Hack pick more than any other ticket we could've bought, including Lynch, and I don't think we bought it too early. It's obvious Hack went up the boards and it was just a matter of time before he was picked. I think Mac was being pro-active.
What's happened in the past and how things unveil in the future means nothing to me. The future is now. I'm not interested in ethereal ideas on how our franchise QB is gonna appear in the future.....some fukn day.

Yup, I'm 99% certain you are correct. It's, at best, an extremely rare occurrence. I suspect it might happen more frequently but most teams that draft a QB in the 3rd or later are really looking for someone to backup an established starter so most of them never really get a chance to win a starting job and that may influence that stat a little bit. But I would guess that latter factor wouldn't have a big influence since maybe 1 in 10 QB's drafted after the 2nd ever develop in to anything other than a backup QB.

I really don't care if you agree with my opinion or not. Disagree all you want. But don't tell me I didn't see what I saw. Especially if there are even worse draft write ups on him out there than even I said.

I see one as more talented from a system that doesn't translate easily. I see one more flawed that could be a special player if everything is fixed.

That's my opinion. None of us are pro personnel people. Especially the folks who never saw either player play who are now taking the opinions of others and espousing them as their own and telling me my personal opinion is wrong.

Pretty much every draft guru said he was the most polarizing player in this draft.

Opinions varied wildly on him from a first rounder to undraftable.

It's no wonder there is crazy discussion about him.

I can see Hack becoming maybe a little better of version of Jay Cutler.

Hell, if you look at his face close enough, he looks like Cutler a bit...lol

Except he's not a douchebag. He's actually someone you could root for.

Not sure, but I do know one thing. We are going to do something unprecedented, we could be sitting a QB that isn't ready to play and still has the potential to be a difference-maker. Unless is he ready to play which I doubt.

Saw a story on Bleacher Report (per Jason Cole] 3 unnamed Jet players not happy Bowles has Geno the starter

We need a leader not two new kids and a 32nd ranked bust

Fitz or a VEt by Trainin Camp please

Really don't get it,There's nothing polarizing about him. He's just another Jets QB prospect who will likely fail.

He may fail, he may excell.

The point about him bring polarizing is because more than anyone else in this draft, the opinions on him were so polar opposite.

If we want any hope at seeing the playoffs next year for the first time in 6 years we need Fitzpatrick not another prospect.Year 2 in the same system with the weapons we have....we dont stand a chance without him

I've been calling for Fitz to come back for months. Fitz will give us another entertaining season and a shot at the playoffs. The only shot.
