Interesting to see how Fackrell/Jenkins will play out. I think Fackrell is in a better situation with GB than he would have been with NYJ. He's going to learn from Matthews and Peppers and won't be expected to contribute early on. If he doesn't make it there, he wouldn't have made it here. Jenkins on the other hand will be expected to contribute early on, IMO. I think he is more ready to do so than Fackrell is and so he's the better fit for NYJ.
I can't see Ochi over Matakevich without sentimentality entering the decision making. Will be interesting to see if Ochi can make a 53-man roster. Probably PS at the beginning of the season, IMO.
I actually bounced between Ochi and Scooby there. In the end I went with Ochi despite having Scooby higher on my chart. My reasoning there? I needed an outside guy and I view Scooby as an inside guy so that pick, in my view, was more of a need pick. But I also had Ochi in the same category as I had with Dadi Nicholas (albeit with slightly different skill sets) and ranked in the 5-6th round so in the 7th to me he's still value. But, again, that's just my perspective. I also considered Jeremy Cash and Eric Striker and Dominque Alexander at that pick.
1. Treadwell or Doctson WR's 2. Cody Whitehair OG 3. Kendall Fuller/Connor Cook or current pick Jenkins CB/QB/OLB 4. Andrew Billings NT 5. Current pick 7. Sccoby Wright 7. Current WR or Kenny Lawler
IMO, it amazes how many believe Treadwell is the Better Player Available over Lee. Even if You had the players ranked with the same grade, You take the player that will improve an aging slower LB group. Living in Columbus, (No Buckeye Homer) I've seen the 2 years Lee has played and he's an awesome talent, he plays huge in big games. I'm glad we passed on Billings, he is a one trick pony that isn't a 3 down player, that's the reason he fell to Rd 4. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Hack might have been available in Rd 3. I mentioned earlier, I thought Mac should have traded down to select Hack, and a few hours later an article came out he was trying to trade out.
Nah put a gun to my head i would've moved around i read somewhere that DAL badly wanted to move up for Paxton Lynch i would've traded down with them honestly at 34 grabbed Myles Jack they would've have thrown in a 3rd (67 overall) I grab Mac Alexander at 51 3. LeRaven Clark OT 3. Jordan Jenkins 4. Juston Burris CB Its not a knock on Lee i just like Myles Jack 100 times more at that spot because he's awesome, Lee will be too. I swap Alexander for Hack cause i just like him better as a prospect, but the Jets felt like they needed to do this so i can't fault them for trying to what they think is best long term for this franchise.
That would have been a great move i think universally people would have accepted the pick of Hackenberg if we executing the ever popular trade down and still grabbed him in the 3rd. Im all about patience but year 3 will be the critical draft for me, the data tells you to trade down because getting as many picks as possible is greatly improving your odds of just getting a starter. Mac has to stop trying and start executing his trade downs unless were nailing every single pick, which we most likely won't.
I'm a big fan of trading down at times, but he can't force other teams to trade up so we can move down. I doubt if you or others would like it if he traded down, but didn't get proper value. I know I wouldn't. He could have traded down from #20 with the Cowboys, but wouldn't have received anywhere near the value of the #20 pick. I'm glad he didn't execute that trade down. I don't believe the Jets would have gotten Hack in the first round. I think there's a very good chance that the Pats would have grabbed Hac with their 2nd round pick. If not, then Cleveland or several other teams who drafted earlier than the JEts probably would taken him early in the 3rd round.
