The Caps have not played their best game yet. I agree. Orpik hit was bad for many reasons. Including Maatta played terrible Game 1. That's life I guess. Maybe Orpik is a double agent.
Capitals fortunate Tom Wilson somehow escaped with a 2k fine for what he did. That hit warranted a suspension, given his history. Orpik is obviously going to be suspended. I would expect more than 1 game. Maatta does play a key role for Pittsburgh and defensive depth has been a real weakness for them this season. Nothing after Letang. When guys like Karlsson, Doughty, Suter, and Letang are playing 30+ minutes, it says more about the defensive depth than it does about those players. Those guys are all good, but they shouldn't be playing more than 25 a game. As for scheduling, the NHL still hasn't gotten it right. 1 game tomorrow, 3 games Tuesday.
lol NBC Elliott fell down after a shot hit his helmet delay while he's checked out NBC puts up a stat saying he'd allowed 1 goal on X shots he had allowed the second goal before this current powerplay! It's 3-2 St. Louis, contrary to what NBC's stats would have you believe.
Or maybe Dallas is good enough to overcome 2 goal deficits, they have a very good team, I know some guys don't want to give them credit, but the Stars are playing like the Hawks played when they won the cup. A relentless attack and get people to the front. It's not over though, Tarasenko is a big game player also.
blowing 2 goal leads says more about the team blowing the lead than it does about the comeback team obviously the Stars are good, but the Blues have been blowing 2 goal leads all playoffs.
Backes with the winner in OT tied, going to St. Louis Niemi played very well after Lehtonen was pulled, but finally cracked STL has scored five goals this series, but Tarasenko doesn't have a point yet. Today, Blues skaters got 12 points, but Lehtera, Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, and Stastny combined for zero somehow.
Rousell needs to be a healthy scratch for the next game, a message needs to be sent to him. I know he plays on the edge but he keeps on putting his team at a disadvantage.
yeah both of the penalties I saw in regulation were obvious and terrible penalties to take I don't think scratching him really hurts the team, and maybe it would teach him a lesson. I didn't see the one in OT. His interference was so obvious, it happened while his team was skating into the offensive zone, he just came across the zone and checked the defenseman that was trying to make a play on the forward, before the defenseman got there.
I'm watching CBC and the announcers were discussing how Marleau and Thornton lead the NHL in games played and points without having appeared in a SCF. I thought Thornton had been in the league longer, so I looked them up. Turns out they were in the same draft. 1997, Bruins drafted Thornton first. Sharks drafted Marleau second.
Josi tried to change into the Sharks bench, leading to too many men very costly penalty, as the Sharks scored on the ensuing powerplay
Even though Niemi was good today , Dallas would be nearly unstoppable if they had a better goalie. Rangers might be getting some calls for Lundqvist from them once their season ends.
Like I said before I'd love to see Joe Thornton get a ring. Outstanding player, I don't believe you can hang the SJ playoff problems on one guy like Thornton. Look how he played this year at age 36, this guy is a fucking all time great passer.
Rousell gave the game to the blues, the blues have no answer for the Stars quick transition game, Roussell and his 3 bad penalties cost them a 2 game series lead. If Lindi Ruff wants to send a message and not lose the support of his team, he should make him a healthy scratch for the next game.
First time all year the Caps are gonna face some pressure. Not much you can do when you outshoot a team 49-25 and lose.
Yeah, hats off to Matt Murray. Except for a couple odd goals given up, I thought it was the best the Caps have played in a while. On to Game 4.
