What an interesting way to use Hackenberg on the sidelines if he sits this year. Lots of teams are influenced by the Patriot offense at this point.

So You think Enunwa might have a few problems with Hack's throws, huh?

Size, smarts, arm strength, can make any throw, changing plays at the line, he reminds me of Andrew Luck and Vinny Testeverde

It's naive to just look at statistics when evaluating college QB's, but statistically speaking Hackenberg's numbers compete/compare to those of Stafford's numbers coming out (who was selected 1st overall). Stafford played 39 games over 3 seasons compared to 38 games over 3 years for Hackenberg. Stafford threw for 7,731 yards compared to 8,547 for Hackenberg. 7.8 yards per attempt for Stafford compared to 6.8 ypa for Hackenberg. 51 TD's/33 INT's for Stafford compared to 48 TD's/31 INT's for Hackenberg. A completion percentage of 57.1% for Stafford compared to a completion percentage of 56.1% for Hackenberg. A QB Rating of 133.3 for Stafford compared to a QB Rating of 121.4 for Hackenberg. If Stafford was deserving of the 1st overall selection, there is no doubt in my mind that Hackenberg being drafted during the 2nd round is justified. Who knows? If O'Brien never left? If Hackenberg had stud WR's? Or a capable offensive line? Or wasn't quarterbacking for a school being punished by the NCAA? If all went as such we could very well be looking at the #1 overall pick of this years draft class in Hackenberg. Very deserving of a 2nd round pick when judging his physical ability along with his mental I.Q for the position. Absolutely love this draft choice from our front office moving forward.

    Moon - 48.8 comp % 19TDs - 17INTS

    Is that good?

You can look the rest up yourself. They weren't good college QB'S.

You can tell he felt awkward with having his right foot back before each snap. it looks clunky. Glad he'll be going back to what he feels comfortable with

Brady never lost his job to Henson. Henson was the young guy that Carr recruited to be a three year starter and Brady held him off because Henson had some issues off the field. In the middle of the controversies Henson signed a minor league baseball contract also after being taken high in the baseball draft and that worked against him also.

The starters for Michigan at QB while Brady was there: 1996 Scott Dreisbach (lost the job to Griese midway through 1996), 1997 Brian Griese (took the job in 1996, held it in 1997), 1998- 1999 Tom Brady (held off Drew Henson, who was too young the first year by Carr's preference system and embroiled in off the field stuff in 1999).

Brady was never a star QB at Michigan. He had a few very good games but he was seen as a Junior and then Senior placeholder for whatever was next. Drew Henson just couldn't get it done. If Henson had been on the ball the whole time he takes the job in 1999. The next Wolverine QB after Henson's one year of starting in 2000 was John Navarre who held the job for 3 seasons.

One of my employees (who also played college ball) has a brother that plays for PSU. He's real....I've met him. Said that Hack is nasty in practice. Tore up the defense on almost every play...basically un-stoppable. Also said that there's no question that the CS there completely screwed the kid up. Said that the players are waiting/hoping for a new staff.

He and his family are Jets fans and they're incredibly excited about the pick.

Well sign me up for 1998 Vinny and while I think Luck is vastly overrated he is still an incredible QB. If Hack turns out to be like either of those guys I think it's a good pick. Obviously Vinny is a guy who a lot of people who aren't Jet fans rag on because of his earlier struggles but he turned into a good QB while he was in Cleveland and once he got out of Tampa while never an elite QB was certainly a good QB who could take a team to the SB or very close.

I wonder if the Texans were planning on making a play at him if we didn't pick him , since he and Obrien have so much familiarity

Unlikely, given the contract they bestowed on the wild Osweiler that appeared.

from a strictly throwing motion standpoint, he reminds me of mcnabb ... they both have very strong arms and suspect footwork. they dirt short passes and sail intermediate ones far too often but they will also put passes right on the money

It's either on the money, sails it or spikes it into the ground. He also throws it away if he doesn't like it. Not turn over prone.
