Holy cow!!..Fitz and his agent are so snowballing the Jets now we missed on Hoyer...cant believe it well now he better get signed or we are pretty much screwed
The Jets may be the only team left, but he is also the only QB left. I would have signed Hoyer for the $2M, and think the FO screwed the pooch on that deal.
Even if he preferred the them, the starting opportunity and some incentives for starting would have gotten the deal done easily.
Screw Fitz and screw Hoyer lets see what our fresh blood can do ... worst case we end up with a top pick for next year, while finding out if we actually have anything in Petty ... etc ... no way no how does Fitz repeat his last year success (not with our sched) sure he might be avg but that won't get us a super bowl ...
So I guess all those assumptions that the Jets made Hoyer an offer were wrong. Unless they offered him $15/hour.
Hoyer signing with the Bears as a backup to Cutler for a paltry $2 mio doesnt help Fitz's position at all. It means the free agency money is spent, and $7-8mio for 1 year is about as good as it should get for Fitz. I think he will sign in a few days.
My question is how do the Jets afford even $8M, when we have no cap space? I say trade Wilkerson for a 2nd round, plus conditional extra pick in 2017. It would free up cap space and give us some picks. No player on this team is worth that much money, not Revis or Wilkerson.
So because Fitz wont get us to the SB you want to waste potentially Marshall's last season of his career and Revis' and Mo's last seasons as a Jet , on an unproven QB that at best would get us to 8-8 , mostly because the rest of our roster is too good to be a 2-14 team? 8-8 doesnt get anything for us next season. Either blow it up or go for it , and its too late to blow it up.
From the looks of it neither one of them will be on the team next year ... Marshall is gonna play a few more seasons, I think in the end Mo will re-sign ... if he won't we already have his replacement on the roster ... Revis will probably be around until 2018 sure it would be nice to go for it all right now but Fitz is not the guy ... you described a doomsday scenario ... I rather take a chance on one of our young guys and see what they can do ... heck I would be fine with Foles (worst case scenario)
the bears he likely doesnt have a chance to start. here he would have. cant imagine he would pass on us for them.
id rather overpay wilk for a year the overpay fitz for a year. im fine trading wilk as long as the compensation is there, but im not doing it to free up money for fitz
