He looks like a prototype to me.

    And he's obviously not dumb

This is the opinion you get when you only look at the stats, you gotta watch a lot of film on him. He's not perfect, far from it but he's got everything you want and just needs to consistently refine his mechanics and he'll be fine. His approach to the game is on par with Luck/Winston in terms of football IQ, he was born to be a Quarterback.

He was an 18 year old true Freshman in the Big 10 his 1st year under Obrien. He had some turnovers? How dare him!

By the way the guy who went second in the draft, as in second overall, at the same time was redshirting at a Div IAA school because he wasn't good enough to play.

    Hack had issues tho

He wasn't great but this is the perspective of guys who don't watch film. They see missed throw high but don't rewind the snap and see why it was missed high. I'm just doing more analysis on him than most I guess but I wanted him here for years now, I believe in this coaching staff. They had Petty looking good in the pre-season last year so I'm pretty sure they will do wonders with a much more talented and higher IQ Quarterback.

I might be wrong, you might be wrong but he's a Jet and deserves our support.

I question drafting a guy that tends to hold onto the ball for an offense that is predicated on getting rid of the ball quickly.

it doesnt work that way... you have people saying stuff like "he was great as a freshman, its just after obrien left that he went down hill" and then use "he was just a freshman" as an excuse when pointing out the tons of bad stuff as a freshman.

the guy has been a turnover machine and completely inaccurate. it got worse after obrien left, but it was still true under obrien to some extent.

him getting my support is irreleveant. he is a jet so i will root for him just like i rooted for geno and sanchez. that doesnt mean i have to ignore his poor play in college or make excuses for him

Actually this is the opinion I gathered from watching most of his games over the last two years. It sounds good to say he is born to be a QB but I don't put a lot of stock in that kind of empty talk. I base almost every opinion through on the field production for any player in any position and he's been lacking here big time.

Ok no need to make stuff up now.

We're all going to give Hack a chance but he's not more talented than Petty and we don't know what his football IQ is.

31 INTs in 3 years is not a lot of turnovers; it averages out to 10 a season. Yes, he wasn't very productive; but he is far from a turnover machine.

And he held onto the ball while getting pummeled.

So the naysayer is not being objective himself.

A week after Petty got drafted he admitted that he didn't know what a 'Mike' is. Hack definitely has a higher knowledge of the game coming out.

why are reasons for his struggles excuses?

poster 1- he sucked in college, he completed under 60% of his passes

poster 2- did you see his O-Line, he was constantly pressures, the scheme change was a bad fit for the team, he also dealt with a lot of dropped passes. It'd be very difficult for any QB to deal with that kind of pressure.

    poster 1- stop making excuses

    thats ridiculous

    It's not empty talk.

I forget who it was when talking about Manziel and his unwillingness to devote himself to be an NFL Quarterback basically you have to be one 24/7. Hackenberg has that mindset, he works at it tirelessly. Reading about the work he does with Jordan Palmer is intriguing.

As for you basing things about on the field what things are you concerned about with him? and do you think he can fix those issues to become a successful NFL Quarterback

You're nuts if you think Hack is more talented than Petty, much less WAY more.

And I watched Hack a lot in college, I'm not so sure about his football IQ.

I'm talking about the ability to process information pre snap and post snap.

I'd like to see that quote because on the Gruden camp he was talking about the Mike quite a few times based in the formations he aw in college.
