I agree, I actually hate the Hack pick at 51, my opinion of him is that he is going to be a bust, too many excuses made for his flaws. So far everything I hear is how its everybody else's fault why he has been so bad. Let's not forget that even while he was being coached by Bill O'Brien he was still over throwing wide receivers and making ill advised passes to Robinson. Robinson bailed him out many times, and as smart as he is touted as being, his pre snap reads still make you wonder why he does not get rid of the ball sooner when he knows there are going to be more rushers than the line can block. Other than that I'm ok with the draft.
Darron Lee OLB: B+ Christian Hackenberg QB: F Jordan Jenkins OLB: B- Juston Burris CB/S: C Brandon Shell OT: B+ Lachland Edwards PT: D Charone Peake WR: C- Overall: Grade C
This draft should produce two immediate starters and potential for a few future starters. This draft was a blend of now and then. Lee - Role player to start - Future Stud Starter Hackenberg - Future, potential to be the guy we've been waiting for. Jenkins - Immediate starter, hell of a pick and value. Burris - Could be the starter on the outside. He has all the tools that Bowles covets for his defense. Might be the gem of our draft. Great press corner. Shell - He has the skill set for our power scheme along the OL. I think he will be a future starter on our line. Could challenge this year even, not likely though. Edwards - I'm unfamiliar with this guy, however they clearly view him as our starting punter. Peake - Good depth but will contribute on special teams immediately. Great value, who knows how far he may go. This draft will have at least two starters day one with potential of producing 4 on opening day. That's a good draft, especially when looking at it from the long term lense. A grade for me
On the surface, it looks like a disaster. D- Lee: I'm a huge proponent of tweeners like Shazier--he's no Shazier Hackenberg-Why? Connor C0ok isn't going to make it in the NFL and Hack is no better IMO Jenkins: Don't know much about him but since he played with a 1st rd LB, I'm worried he maybe looked better because of this Burris: seems like an ok pick for rd. 4 Shell: HATE giving up a 4th rounder for him--else, from everything I read, his PP technique is awful Edwards: would've preferred an American who grew up with the game Peake: good 7th rd pick
Darron Lee OLB: A+ Great fit for the Jets scheme, fills a need, great value at 20 Christian Hackenberg QB: B+ Jets have to continue taking Qbs, he has a ton of upside, played on a terrible Penn State team, got jerked around in college schematically and had his mechanics altered. Was at one point a candidate for #1 overall pick. Jordan Jenkins OLB: A- Sounds like a great fit and could develop into a Calvin pace type of OLB. Good value in rd 3. Juston Burris CB/S: B Seems like a good fit and decent value. Brandon Shell OT: C+ Good value and fit, but I don't love the trade. Lachland Edwards PT: A We absolutely needed to take a punter and apparently this guy has a strong leg. Charone Peake WR: B Looks like a guy who could develop into a role player. Overall: Grade B+ Great draft overall. Didn't love the trade, but perhaps it will pay off. Would have loved the Hackenberg pick if it were in the 3rd round.
So Lee is a tweaner and not any better than Shazier, Hackenberg is gonna suck, you don't know anything about Jenkins, you have no idea who Shell is, and you would have preferred an American picked instead of Edwards. Lmao so you rated a draft not knowing who half the picks are and based on ethnicity
If you just pretend like Jenkins was our 2nd round pick and Hackenberg was our 3rd, You jerk---I was so typing that! What I was getting at: If you just pretend like Jenkins was our 2nd rounder, and Hack was our 3rd, and figure we got some pretty likeable UDFAs.........I'd say B- for the weekend, at worst.
Every year you rate the draft what purpose does it serve? Does it correlate to anything is the preseason, regular season?
