Jon Gruden may be a blowhard but he said at the end of his QB camp thing he would be surprised if Hackenberg wasn't a FIRST rounder lol...so I guess at least not everyone thought he was a sixth rounder.
Totally agree with bold. Outside of the top 2 QBs, Driskel in the 7th round would probably be the best round to talent value in this QB class. Plus he has both under center and Spread experience. That said; Hack is not that bad of value in terms of just talent.
Id have more trust in the average fan who is die hard enough to be at the draft than an actual NFL GM
Ah yea look at the last QB he drooled over, he really knocked that Johnny Manziel pick outta the park

Darryl Slater @DarrylSlater 55s56 seconds ago If Fitzpatrick doesn't return, Bowles says it is not "imminent" that Jets must bring in a veteran QB. Could go with Smith, Petty, Hackenberg
Fitz, Petty and Hack > Fitz, Geno and Petty. So if the Jets get Fitz back this move will be fine and I think either one of the young guys will pan out.
I don't think Gruden was hanging out with Manziel away from the field...on pure football talent he may well have been right, but Manziel is such a certifiable wackjob we'll never know.
Insults aside, couldn't have said it better. Kellen and Geno were not potential franchise QB material; this kid is. If it doesn't work out, it's just a second round pick. The Jets need to learn from the Geno experiment to not treat him like a top 10 overall pick. Give him nothing have him EARN everything!!!
If he was a potential franchise QB he would've been gone by pick 51. End of story. The chances of him being our franchise QB for a long period of time is slim to none. And to me thats a WASTE of a high draft choice.
First, off when I say he was a 6th round prospect that IS MY RATING OF HIM AS A PROSPECT. I believe he was a QB that should have been taken in the sixth round. Second , GMS are wrong all the time, and if I asked you week ago if you'd be fine with Hackenberg in round 2 you would have said no.We're allowed to have differing opinions and criticize the GM.. I find your post hillarious, considering the fact that you continue to bash posters who share different opinions than you. You have no substance to back up your arguments, and call foul when invidiuals call you out on your BS. Take off the green colored glasses and evaluate the players objectively. You guys continue to act as if Mac is infallable, but in two years if Hackenberg fails(I hope he doesn't), you'll have the pitchfork out for him. I' m more than happy to provide clips / statistics to back up my opinion. You? I don't expect you to have any substance of any sort, you're just that kind of poster
Hacks best quality is loyalty, could have left Penn State but didn't eveen though he played with the worst oline and coach Ive ever seen
Only pick I was going to complain about in this draft was a QB..and I would've complained about Hackenberg if we got him in the 4th round. Probably just not as much though. Any way you slice it this is a bad pick. Could it be good? I guess so. But Im really doubting it.
I totally disagree with your second sentence. Mac's job is to find a QB of the future. You don't bank your future on a 4th round pick. Petty was a 4th round pick. You don't worry about what dumb fans think or about Petty's feelings. If you get a chance to take a QB who has a lot of potential, you take him. Between Petty and Hack, it gives the Jets a lot better odds of having found their QB of the future. They will push and help each other, and if both develop, the Jets are in awesome shape. With where the Jets are likely to be drafting over the next several years, this could very well be their best chance to find a franchise QB without having to give up a ton of picks to trade up. If Mac passed up on a QB that he thought had the potential to be a franchise QB because he took Petty in the 4th round last year, he should be laughed out of the NFL and never work even as a scout again, much less a GM. He should keep taking a QB every year until they have found their QB of the future.
