I know there's a thread for Hackenberg, but this is a thread for Gailey. I think we reached but not as much as most of you think.

It'll be interested to see what Gailey can morph this kid into with this offense and the pieces around him. Maybe we see a completion past 40 yards this year?

We have two negative threads already, let's keep this one for the positivity and discuss the offensive possibilities moving forward. Whether you like him or not, we took him and we're stuck with him.

The good thing is, he has a big boy arm and will have the luxury of throwing to two Pro-bowl receivers and one of the GOAT runningbacks catching the ball out of the backfield.

Let's talk about football instead of the wahh the Jets are a doomed franchise bullshit.

So to pose a question.. how does the offense change with Hackenberg? What can get better/where will it recede? Our down field passing should surely improve. The biggest question mark is going to be his ability to stay upright and not hold onto the ball too long. Forte/Powell should help with that providing him excellent check down options, and be also now had two very big targets.

    Optimism! Yay!

I'll also add in that I posted prior to the draft thinking he would've been a good selection later in the draft (4th-6th). I'll add that I do not get paid millions of dollars to evaluate NFL prospects like our front office, coaching staff and scouting department do.

I trust this regime in thinking he'll at least be a quality starter. The rest of their New York Jets careers are banking on it.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Only way he's taking regular season snaps is if Geno and Petty get hurt.

Luckily those guys can throw 40 yards so we can still see it happen.

Only way he starts this year is if:
    1) Everybody gets hurt.
    2) He shocks and is amazing.

Chans the qb whisperer. He so good he has fitzfuckingpatrick holding the tgg message board hostage, praying he re-signs. If the guy has the athletic ability to play qb in the nfl, chan will get the best out of that guy.
We are in good hands at the qb position

Funnily enough, a year ago at this time the resident geniuses here didn't want Chan. Imagine that. Bowles was an idiot for picking him over Kyle Shanahan, God's greatest gift to QBs. Now Chan is a QB whisperer and our only hope of salvaging Hackenberg, our new bogeyman. ROFLMFAO.

LOL -- so true. When you put it like that, it's hard to argue about how good -- maybe great? -- Gailey's been for us. Initially, I thought Bowles was hiring a guy who'd washed out of the league for two years, but I was clearly wrong. Happy to eat some crow, and I'm happy that Gailey is our OC. Hope that 2016 continues to show his competence as the NYJ OC!

I don't think Hackenberg starting is that much of a stretch, if we don't sign Fitz that is.

Drafting Hackenberg is a genius move and here's why:

He will sit behind Geno and Petty next year and we will have a poor season while Hackenberg learns the ropes. We will then have the opportunity to draft a star wide receiver and several O-linemen in the next draft with a top 5 selection in every round. Then with a year of experience, we can give the starting job to Hackenberg in his second year. Who will then proceed to play the worst season as a quarterback in NFL history, which will land us the #1 overall pick in 2018 and get us Josh Rosen. We will finally get a Peyton Manning/Andrew Luck level quarterback.

    Good job Jets!

Yup. The experts here had the Gailey hiring as a mistake by TB. The reasons were all proved wrong. A few of them actually believe they know something that nobody else does...no really.
I don't know why Mac even bothers. These guys are way, way ahead of him. We'd win a lot of drafts with them. Championships no doubt. Maybe Mac can get on board with them and break out of the SOJ mold that he's obviously in before it's too late.

I think Chan and Fitz is a great marriage for both of them but I'm not sure either would be as good without the other. It's not as if there's a long list of pro QB's he's taken to another level besides Fitz.

If we sign Fitzpatrick or wait for somebody to get cut or trade for somebody..whatever, we won't carry 4 so who gets cut, Geno? Probably.

I think this is a great landing spot for Hackenberg.

The 1st thing that needs rebuilding is the kids confidence.
At Penn St. this kid had no protection and spotty play at the skill positions.
I believe this was a big reason for his accuracy issues and lack of production the last 2 seasons.

Now that he's here and isn't the big man on campus the pressure will be off and he can work on the issues that plagued him while getting great coaching.

There's no denying this kid looks the part and has shown flashes of being e very good QB.
He can make all the throws and is a big strong kid as he's taken a beating behind that line the past 2 seasons and hardly missed any time.

Hate the pick all you want for where he was taken but the wildcard here will be Gailey.
If this kid is coachable we may be eating our words in 2018
