I wonder why i even come on this board after draft , fans bitch and moan about picks when they really don't have the access or knowledge to some of theses players like our actual organization does. People say we should have chosen a T, what tackle idiots? They were all gone, in fact we tried to trade up for Tunsil but the price was too high. I actually believe that the same people would have have probably bitched if we traded up for him. People are sad and are just complaining to simply COMPLAIN.

Every single site or analysts loves our pick but when i come on here its looks split. Who should we have chosen then? Who in the hell is anyone on this board to say that Lee wasn't the BPA, what just cause u watched some youtube "tape" it gives you the knowledge to breakdown a prospect. Half of you don't even know what you're looking for when it comes to breaking down a player. Not to mention that the draft is a game about potential. Who has the most potential and can fill a potential need. Lee iisnt a finished product and is only going to get better in this scheme. He's going to be clean, all those D-Line in front of him is gonna let him make plays all around the D. We needed speed, this is a passing league, we spent all last year bitching about the lack of speed on defense, were working towards that.

Here's what Walterfootball had to say about the pick:

[IMG]New York Jets: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State A Grade
The Jets picked Leonard Williams last year, proving that they'll draft the best player available, even if they don't have a need at the position. This year, the Jets have selected perhaps the best player available - and one who actually fills a need. The Jets have had a hole at inside linebacker for a very long time. Darron Lee, who could've gone as high as No. 14, figures to change that. Lee is very athletic and has a ton of upside. He projects as a great fit in Todd Bowles' defense.

    walterfootball.com/nfldraftgrades1.php#U72pQa74TKyPDMYO.99

They only gave out 10 A picks in the first round.

I'm saying all the talk about we needed speed on defense is silly talk and now we have it is silly talk. It's football not track. Davis had speed but couldn't play football.

But it also said "lost the tip of his index finger in a bowling accident".

As long as folks are making stuff up.

One of the comments nailed it a full month ago ...
"The talks about him being undersized and off balance at times are all issues that can be fixed. He's listed at 6'1 220. He can easily pack on 15 pounds in an NFL workout and diet plan. Also his balance is just a matter of foot work and proper form which is what NFL linebacker coaches will be working on with him. I see him best suited on a team like the Jets or Bills who blitz a lot. In their schemes he'd be asked to pin his ears back and get after the QB the vast majority of the time. His athletic ability is very intriguing."

WR is a need this year. Marshall is 32 and Decker has yet to remain healthy for an entire season with us since we signed him. We use 3 and 4 wr's as our set offense and our only depth is an unproven wr who will not participate in his second straight training camp due to recovering from an injury. Is anyone comfortable with Thompkins being our number 2 wr this year? because he is the next guy after decker and marshall.

I like Lee and he obviously was the BPA on the jets board so I am happy they got someone they seemed to covet.

Flashed coverage ability is a whole different thing than one's coverage rating. The former is potential while the latter is based on results. Sanchez "flashed" franchise QB ability at some point; that doesn't mean he was.

of course this defense lacked closing speed last year. If you can't acknowledge something as simple as that then your opinion on a specific player means nothing

"its football not track" no shit

Here's the Jets first round pick blowing up a fullback and getting to the QB on less than 2 seconds while the Giants first round pick gets toasted.

    Lee liked that tweet..

I love how fans have been clamoring for a pass rushing LB for literally years, we draft one, and fans are bitching.

We just drafted a LB with 4.47 speed, and high tackling efficiency. He is a Von Miller clone as soon as he gains a few pounds.

I cannot understand for the life of me why Jets fans are complaining with this pick? I'm very happy with the pick. The only other pick I would have been happy with there would have been Laquan Treadwell.

one of the things I noticed when watching his film was how good he was at charging and closing the pocket. In this defense I envision a lot of the delayed blitzes in the middle. That's a great fit for him because he did very well finding the hole and rushing it. I imagine a lot of 3rd downs where he first appears to drop back in coverage and then once they lock 2 guys onto Wilkerson or Richardson, he'll run straight ahead in the hole with that closing speed at the QB.

Last year Bowles had to use Pryor and Skrine alot on those delayed blitzes. Now those guys can get back in coverage where they belong

Fellow PFF analyst Bobby Slowik told me that Lee reminded him a bit of Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington when he was coming out of college. It might be that Jets coach Todd Bowles, who used to coach Washington, felt similarly. The problem is that comparing two players doesn’t mean they’ll turn out the same, and simply put, Lee is a project. 45 percent of his snaps a year ago came from the slot, and when he was asked to play in the box, his run reads weren’t on an NFL level. He also managed to only grade out right around average in coverage, and only got his hands on two passes all season long — while ranking fourth-worst in the class in tackling efficiency in coverage.
