Is that what you want from a 1st round pick though? Someone who can only succeed if everything is right around him. You want him to elevate his teammates not need help. As a rookie I suppose but going forward even?
Agreed, I don't hate the pick. The kid is one of the best athletes in the draft but when Myles Jack falls into your lap you grab him and say thank you to the draft gods. He's too small for ILB duty, same height as James Harrison but he's no James Harrison.
They only knock I hear on him is his size. C'mon, give the kid some cheeseburgers and hit the weight room
Our inability to spy and/or rush is a big reason why we couldn't make the playoffs. I like this pick!
Not a fan of this pick. Guy is small, and while speedy didnt play on the edge much at all. most of his pressures and plays came in the A and B gaps. he is more of a 3rd/passing down specialist. i dont see him as a lock to be a 3 down player. a guy ill end up liking, but not for someone taken #20. to me this is the type you get in round 3. hope im wrong, but i despise this pick. i kept hear mac woudl go BPA. i was convinced he would. this is a bummer
I think he's too small, he doesn't even look six foot and looks like he weighs in the 220's tops. He may be decent in coverage but I don't see him getting to the QB often in the NFL unless it's a creative blitz package, he's not going to be an edge rusher in the NFL.
He is going to play the Deone Buchanon position. Actually ILB. Go to Arizona depth chart, Buchanon listed as ILB. That goes with rumors they wanted the UFlorida safety at that spot. He will rush the passer, and play in coverage. Fasted LB in draft ( ran a 4.4) Will start alongside Harris inside He's BPA. And a perfect scheme fit.
This dude runs a 4.4 and yall are over here crying.. With him on one side and Mauldin on the other, watch the fuck out.. With that D-Line taking up the blockers, offenses are going to have a serious problem.
On the inside this kid can shut down the wheel route that burned us so badly last season. On the outside he has the speed to get around the edge and meet the ball in the backfield. In Bowles scheme he should shine. I really like this pick.
I am quite mistified at the hate on this kid. He plays in space people, and has blazing speed, something we desperately need. Our number one glaring weakness in defense. Bowles will play him inside or outside and immidiately improve our linebacker corps.
Mac said he was going to draft speed and he did. This guy is definitely Davis replacement. He should have the speed to cover those wheel routes. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
On an NFL weight training program he'll bulk up and be a fine addition to the defense. A good sideline to sideline player. He's not as flashy as Jack or Treadwell would've been, but I trust Bowles ability to fit players like this into his defense. Should be a beast as a rookie behind this front.
Literally sick. I hate this pick as much as any in Jets history. First we went defense again 7 years in a row. Where is he gonna play? He's a dwaft who would be swallowed up by every offensive lineman in the league and he won't play safety as we have Pryor and Gilchrist. I wasn't excited about Lynch but at least he made sense because right now at this moment we have Geno and Bryce as our QB's. I just have a queasy feeling about any linebacker from Ohio State and everyone on this board knows why.
I wanted Lawson or Treadwell. But I understand why Mac went with Lee. At pick 20 its a tough spot but honestly Im just happier we didnt pick Lynch there when past regime's would've and sent us back 3 years. Not trilled with the Lee pick but I can see him doing well here.
Demario Davis ran a 4.6,speed doesn't always translate to sacks or coverage skills....but we will see
