I agree. Nobody else wants him at that level of salary. He should have figured it out by now. Maybe he's waiting for the draft and hoping that, afterwards, some team, possibly the Jets, will be totally desperate for a starting QB and will pay him big money.
Ian Rappaport just said on NFL Network that the visit may continue tomorrow. No contract offered. Doing their homework on Hoyer. Will use it as leverage for Fitz and the interest in Hoyer is legit. Jets offered Fitz a deal like Chase Daniels which is around $11 Mill per year if incentives are hit.
I don't get why this guy is hanging out with the guys on the team if he didn't want to be here. They could all be going to the hockey game together.
nah.... colossal trash is like... matt simms/blaine gabbert. Hoyer isnt good. he is probably just on the south side of average. but its not like people are saying "sign hoyer, he is our savior" its, "sign hoyer, he'll give us about what fitz would". i mean the real concern with hoyer is his durability. talent/production isnt really much question he gives you about what fitz would. all things equal you take fitz, but their not. hoyer will make 1/3 to 1/2 what fitz makes. people need to stop bashing hoyer, no one thinks he is any good. realize who he is replacing, fitzpatrick not rodgers.
because they are friends. you dont stop being friends with guys because you arent on their team anymore or might not be. i also think he wants to be here, he just wants to get paid
I really believe he signs here or retires. He's a journeyman quarterback that's finally found a spot. Think he really wants to move his wife and kids again? He's got teammates who love him and hang out with him all the time, he makes appearances all over on Rachel Ray, SNL and Fallon, every time he goes to a NY sports event he gets put on the Jumbotron and cheered. He'd never had a winning season and he won 10 games this year and he's got his OC. He's gone from forgotten backup bouncing around from team to team to rockstar in one season. He'd be insane to sign anywhere else and he knows it.
if he wants to sign here there is a contract waiting for him. if he has a dollar amount in his mind that makes it worth it not to retire, and the jets dont hit that mark, i wouldnt hold it against him at all if he retires.
With Wentz and Goff definitely out of the picture you have to wonder if the jets will up the anti a bit and sign Fitz I hope they do.
We have reached Draft night. Does waiting this long help Fitzpatrick? I would think it actually hurts him. After the draft there will be even less places than need a QB. Especially at the money he wants. Interesting.
It looks like Wilkerson might not be getting moved. Regardless of the wait for Fitz it really didn't matter. We never had the cap space to sign him.
I think it's a non factor. No one outside of the top two are going to start THIS year and Fitz is really only a one year stop gap. If someone takes Cook or Lynch or Hack or Jones they aren't starting this year so if you need a one year starter it's gotta be Fitz or Hoyer. _
nm, I take that back after looking. i can't believe our illustrious gm wasted so much money on so many mediocre players that we have had to cut cromartie, let brick retire, let ivory, snacks and others walk just to get even a buck or two under the cap..enjoy him folks.
