In a world of dragons, trolls, witches, warlocks, and people awaking from the dead, the odds of the Easter Bunny existing are pretty high.

But let's all wait to hear how they survived jumping off a wall

They showed the snow last season when they were on the ledge about to jump down.

Thought the episode was garbage at first, but I guess I was expecting too much. After having a half a day to rethink about what went down I thought it was pretty good.

When Melisandre took off that necklace it was red, but when she was wearing it it was blue. Then all of a sudden she got old AF.

Its a set up episode...Thats what they do typically, they need to touch base with each character and then boom they are back at it.

This episode was very much a "catch up with all our characters" type episode which, honestly, makes a lot of sense. Honestly I was struggling to remember some of the places that left off last season.

Nothing happened, then it ended. talk of white pussy hair and then actually showing gray pussy hair is not terribly compelling.

Meh. One of the least enjoyable season openers thus far. I feel like the show jumped the shark last season and this one is going to be a hot mess.

They're working with zero source material now. Was bound to happen.

Serious question as I have never read any of the books. Have the books been exhausted? Are they literally making up new storylines based upon the original books?

There's been a few changes, big ones at that. In the books, Jaime and Bron don't visit Dorne in the books. They never set foot there. It also changed a lot from episode one. As we all saw, they killed prince Doran, which never happened in the books.

The biggest I think comes with Catelyn Stark and Brienne, the big bitch (lol) in the books, Catelyn actually comes back from the dead as "Lady Stoneheart" and is seeking revenge on all that betrayed her, mostly the Lannisters. Brienne is captured and said to be executed. She reappears, so she never was killed, takes Jaime Lannister with her to save Sansa. But it twists and seems Brienne was visited by Lady Stoneheart, Catelyn Stark, and they were working together to trick Jamie Lannister into a trap to kill him.

It's possible this still happens but seems way off from where the books were

But as far as I've seen and read, the series is deviating completely from the books and acting as its own separate story line. George R.R. Martin apparently hated that people were spoiling the Red Wedding and things that were gonna happen, so he deviated

They left a lot of characters and plot lines out of the show, but I think its too late to go back to anything substantial. Like Falco said, its probably way too late for the Stark mom, as that happened in the 3rd or 4th book. They are pretty much running on their own now. The only character that progressed a little further in the book that they could draw on is Bran, and its not too much material.

I think they really changed his character because, unless I'm mistaken and correct me if I am, he was only supposed to look weak and useless when really he was pulling a lot of strings behind the scene to unseat the Lannisters, like Littlefinger Jr. In the show they just really made him weak and useless, in my estimation kind of missing the point. It also removes some of the subtle political subterfuge he was doing in exchange for just a pissed off Dorne which, honestly, people don't really seem to care about or afraid of (The Sand Snakes are badass though).

Lady Stoneheart first appears at the very end of the fourth book. Though it is just a brief introduction. That's as far as I've got in the books so far.

    POSSIBLE SPOILER

I saw an interview with Ian McShane (probably best known for Deadwood) a few months back and he confirmed that he is in the new series. He wasnt there to talk about GoT and while he wasn't allowed to say much, but he did say that he was a new character in the entourage of someone who everyone thinks is dead. This was obviously meant to be another 'is John Snow alive?' teaser, but my thought was perhaps he had something to do with Lady S.

Yes that is very true. He is not weak at all and is very different than the show portrayed him. I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing though. I much prefer that the show goes on its own route. It's a new idea and new story now for me. I love that
Yup, I have a feeling that's her coming back. I don't think they are gonna bring John Snow back. Bringing her back would be cool as hell to do. Back from the dead on a rampage of vengeance. I loved it!

I don't hate the portrayal of Doran Martell because, honestly, who really cares about Doran Martell? The issue is how the broach the subject in the future with what he was involved in (trying to avoid spoilers on the specifics). I guess they could point to Varys or someone else having something to do with it or perhaps he was working on it and that fact died with him or gets revealed later. Or perhaps the show writers are just going to completely ignore that story line.
