This Blackhawks-Blues Game 7 tonight should be great. The Blues have been the better team for 5.5 games, but the Blackhawks came to life in the middle of Game 6. As for the rest of the West: definitely can't just disregard the Sharks. They dominated in Round 1. They can take the Ducks. I think the Blues/Hawks will beat the Stars though.
Bold Predictions for tonight: The Blues outlast the Hawks in OT to win the series. Preds force Game 7 too.
the top two teams in the East meeting in the second round Chicago and St. Louis might be the two best teams out West and one is about to be eliminated Blues up 2-0 but a bad pass, Schwartz falls down reaching for it, leads to a break for Chicago going the other way and Hossa cashes in Blues fans can't be feeling good. Only a one goal lead and this team hasn't been able to hold leads.
Fabbri and Pietrangelo were great. Now we get a breather tomorrow night before Game 7 in Anaheim on Wednesday. Reversal of fortune this year? Out West, you had the two teams with the most success recently pitted against the two teams that repeatedly came up short. In each case, the team with the bad history came through. Out East, you had the choking Caps make the second round (albeit as a heavy favorite, as they have a lot more talent then the Flyers). Good chance a member of this trio wins the Cup. Blackhawks and Kings had won the last four Stanley Cups and five of the last six. Both out in the first round. Washington, San Jose, and St. Louis have had plenty of regular season success and early exits, as they watched Chicago and LA dominate the postseason.
That Blues/Hawks series was amazing. We wait until Wednesday for Preds Ducks to wrap up gm 7. Pretty torn with my picks in the east right now.
Yeah, that is interesting. Boston being the team besides the Hawks and Kings to win the Cup the last 6 years, meaning the last Cup winner still alive would be the Penguins who won in 2009. Pretty cool. I definitely consider the Blues to be the front-runner in the West now. The only question is how much did Chicago take out of them? Besides that, they are clearly the best in my opinion.
Same with me. If you really break it down, SJ, STL, DAL and ANA (who I think will advance) , all have pretty similar offenses IMO. Elite ones really. But to me the Blues have the best defense/goalie combo. That could change if Nashville advances , but yeah gotta consider the Blues as the West favorite as it stands right now.
forgot to pick round 2 before it started Islanders in 6 (was picking them anyway, nothing to do with game 1, lightning missing stralman as well as stamkos, huge losses, too much to overcome IMO) Predators in 6 Blues in 6 Capitals in 7
blues/blackhawks should've been the WCF and Penguins/Capitals should've been the ECF too bad they're in the same divisions Blackhawks fell apart at the end of the regular season, but if they didn't meet in the first round, it would've been the second round anyway
Yeah, I feel bad for him. He is a great regular season coach, but then something happens come playoff time. I wonder if he will get fired? I would love that! Haha. Completely agree, but that is how the cookie crumbles I guess. Tough picks for Round 2. All toss-ups. I'll go similar to you though: Capitals in 6 Blues in 6 Lightning in 7 Sharks in 7
