I blame the media more. Which in turn makes the fans turn on the team/front office.

Its a vicious circle every 3 years so Im expecting it to turn sour fairly soon.

I hope that Woody has the sense to realize that Mac is doing a very good job and should go nowhere. I think the same thing goes for Bowles and Gailey. If he burns it down again, and fires them in two years, that will be it for me. I'll be done with this franchise, because there will be no hope as long as Woody owns the team.

Problems usually start at the top with most team. Woody has listened to the noise of the city when it came to Herm/Rex/Tanny/Idzik. Id like to think it would be different with Bowles and Mac but I would need to see it to believe it.

A 5-11 season next year no matter who is at QB will put both of em on the hot seat and thats kinda crazy.

He may have listened to the noise of the city. If he didn't know that those idiots needed to go, then it's a good thing he listened to the noise. Now that Ron Wolf and Charlie Casserly are advising him, I think he'll be smarter. I'm sure that they told him that he needed to be patient and not expect too much too soon.

With a tougher schedule, it wouldn't take but a key injury or two and/or Fitz to not re-sign, and it could happen even with the team playing better this year than last.

I think Woody has to realize that there is an air of professionalism with Mac and even in a down year he is going to stick with him.

Mac really has done a very good job in a very limited time.

U may as well quit now because WJ is a danger to himself. Just think 0-16 & counting. I'm sure he cares nothing about that so long as we continue to support his team by buying NYJ gear & going to games etc, etc

Well success is usually a term used when U R a winner. Since the NYJs have not won a SB since 1969 that means they are not successful. Since they have NEVER won a NFL championship that means they R UNSUCCESSFUL. Since there over all forever record is still under 500 means that are very, very unsuccessful for a very, very long time:mad:

I'm not a huge fan of the continuity argument. With continuity comes video footage for other teams to prepare for you. Rex Ryan's 1st year D in 09 was #1 in the NFL, with Lito Sheppard, Marques Douglas, Jim Leonhard, Kerry Rhodes as a few of the starters. Not exactly a star-studded D. Teams may be more ready this year seeing the combo of Bowle's defense with our players.

Where is the optimism. The jets are just as good if not better than KC, Texans, Colts, Steelers , Broncos (No QB, Patriots(Without Brady)). We get on a roll we have a good chance of making a run.

People look at our Roster and see holes. Go around the league every team has huge holes. Of course a run is contingent on decent QB play. The defense is will be solid.

I know people don't want to hear it but in the big picture Mac has his focus on 2018 and making sure that the QB of the future is ready to rock for that season as there will be tons of cap space available, the roster will have turned over from most of the people you've mentioned above and others and they'll still have a very good young core of players from the existing roster plus tonight's draft and next years. The key is for Mac to mold this current team in the best way to be competitive and possibly make a run now while preserving that cap room in 2018 so when key players on rookie deals are ready to be paid they can be and he can fill holes. The whole Fitz / Hoyer / Geno or whoever starts now is just a matter of finding the right part at the right price for the right time period imho. Is the performance of Fitz at $15mm that much better than Geno in his rookie deal or Hoyer at $3-4mm? I don't think so and from the way this game of chicken is going Mac doesn't appear to think so either. Come 2018 they need to have a completely revamped OL, completely revamped WR core, new CB's etc. If you look at which positions cost the most QB and CB its in his best interest to have those starters on rookie deals come 2018 if this team is going to be ready for a serious sustained run. I'd be looking for him to go after those positions and OL, OLB in the next few days. Next year I'd think WR is a priority, let them sit a year behind Marshall, Decker etc.

the texans and broncos dont need to be better then us. they can have a worse record and win the division. unless we win the division, we will be in a dogfight with 4 or 5 others teams most of which probably have better qb play/pass rushing.

it will come down to our qb play and healthy

last year might of set a jets TD record, but his season was average or worse by NFL standards. we will need better if we make the playoffs, especially given what looks like a much tougher schedule. Fitz also may not be on the team.

While I agree oline is a major need across the board, and that HB is an enormoous waste before round 4, WR is absolutely a major need for this team. Marshall is 32. decker has some years left but is also 29. devin smith is coming off injury and who knows. this team needs a young WR, and we still dont have one single gamebreaker type on the roster, someone who can catch a short pass, make guys miss, and go the distance. id be 100% onboard with someone like the baylor kid in round 1

It was like watching a little league baseball game, a 4th grader hits a slow roller under the second baseman's glove and...HOME RUN!!

yup... woody is a clown puppet. signs off on rebuilds and then fires the guy the next year. dude needs to stay far away from football and just be a check writer.

Mac needs to draft really well the next 2 to 3 seasons if this team is going to change the vicious cycle. and woody needs to get the f out of the way

Er from day 1 of Woody's ownership his ONLY interest is taking as much money from us the fans as he could possibly do. Look just this year he raised STHer prices without even knowing who our starting QB will be. All WJ IMHO cares about is gloaming as much money as he can from us fans. The product on the field is probably 1 on a scale of 1 to 10

    Woody is definitely a gloamer.
