He's a punk, loud-mouth, and a liability. With a team full of character sound guys Norman sticks out like a sore thumb.

Not a FA anymore! Skins giving him 5 years and 75mil. 50 mil in guarantees.

I knew a stupid franchise would do something like this.

Josh Norman's 5-year, $75M deal with the #Redskins includes $50M in guarantees, source said. Wow.

Dumb contract but $$ never bothers Washington. Their secondary was pretty awful last season so this one is a huge upgrade.

To me , in that division they now go from favorites to heavy favorites.

as i live by DC, all of my friends are excited by this news. But haven't the Skins learned from their past mistakes like with Haynesworth? And what will Kirk Cousins think about this?

Daaaaayyyuuummmmm!!!!! Washington is without a doubt a sad and sorry franchise, and as a Jet fan I don't have much room to talk. However, today, I can confidently point at another franchise and say I'm thankful to not be a part of that fanbase today. Big Cat is right on the money with that contract becoming an albatross.

So Norman had no trade value on a $14 million one year deal, then gets a $70 million 5-year deal in FA?

I think the Panthers just wanted to free the money up quickly. They must not have thought it was worth getting Josh to sign his tender, find a trade partner, then find a team he'd be willing to sign with AND give the Panthers a good draft pick.

I'd guess not many teams would give up a high pick and all that money to get him. So would it have been worth it to the Panthers to expend all that energy to get a mid to late round pick? They probably thought it better to cut him quick and get some players they want to keep around signed to extensions.

Anyone thinking some team is going to give the Jets a 1st or 2nd round pick and also pay Wilk what he's looking for are probably going to be disappointed.

We don't need patriots fans giving us lectures on disappointment, CJ.

What year was it when corners became bigger divas than wide receivers?

They could not trade him, he did not sign the Franchise tag that has been sitting there for 6 weeks - therefore their was no way to deal.
It was also thought that he was not going to sign, not report to OTA's and might drag this into training camp.

It now seems like his agent really screwed this up and he actually wanted to stay in Carolina.
He got rid of his agent, also when he found out, he contacted the team about signing the tag, but the paperwork had already been filed with the NFL to rescind it.

Only the Redskins would have done a deal like this. Dan Snyder should have bought a baseball team instead of the Redskins. His tendency to impulse buy and regret it later wouldn't have been as crippling in an uncapped sport.
