Well to be honest, that part of FL is WAAY different than up here, and I havent really spent any time down there in years....... aside from heading S. to the Keys, and we'd crush it down there (mostly trolling though, but that's my favorite) I know there's reefs with fish, but they're ALOT closer to shore down there than up here, so they get alot of pressure. If you have a captain that will run far, you can score, so do your research, and don't waste any $ on a half day trip. I would join the Florida SPortsman message board, and check out / ask the S. FL section......
Thanks for the headsup Stink! I'll be on the lookout and will rathole a couple of hundred just in case I can talk my companions into a charter.
I know you like bottom fishing, but maybe you should try something you dont get to do at home..... not sure about the Tarpon down there then (they're up here in summer) but snook are fun.... South FL's version of stripers (but you can get em in shallower water)
Great Idea!!! I've read about snook and always wondered about them. If they're anything like Striper, I'm sure it would be fun to catch them. Update: I got wifey to sign off on a charter. She agrees this is a bucket list trip and if a charter in SFla can be done, why not go for it?
Nice.... I'll be on the Dauntless Sunday Morning! Update: Because of the weather, I will pass on tomorrow's trip. Cold Front today means the fish won't bite again until Monday at the earliest. Full Moon isn't helping either. Just a bad combination of events beyond my control. Sometimes its better just to wait.
Sunday's my one guaranteed day off (usually) Planning on creeping back in the skinny creeks on the plastic yacht early tomorrow...... hopefully to catch some fat fish in skinny water with lt. tackle and artificials
Haha yeah...... that's what my brother calls it too. I found a new spot with some fish stacked in shallow grass, but couldnt get em to eat. beautiful day though
Judging by the OE's "Some people caught them some didn't" report aka "Fishing was shit except for like 3 guys", it sounds like you were right to wait.
The fact that there's going to be a 10 degree drop this weekend and it's draft weekend totally seem to be made in heaven. It's like the universe is telling us, "I'll hold your fish for you, stay home". Or maybe I shouldn't have eaten that brownie. Either way edit: I think your link is busted.
