I'm mystified at this blind devotion to this joke of a qb ... Do you owe him $$$?

You can have all the raw talent in the world, but at the end of the day if you play like an idiot, you're an idiot

Fitz showed us that if you put the prep work in, do the homework, be a leader among your teammates it's the recipe for success. What has this moron shown that he deserves yet another chance....NADA

    Time to move on....

Hard to believe that Smith has this much love out there. The two seasons he started, he had the worst QB rating for any fulltime starting QB. His TD to INT ratio is pathetic and he has NO leadership ability. The only good thing he has ever done was stop a fist with his face and hand the starting job to Fitz. The one start he had last year was terrible. Hard to believe so many of you would want Smith over Hoyer , Petty or a fresh drafted QB.

Repeat after me, Geno Smith is a turd, not a polished turd, just one that stinks.

I wonder how far away Petty is from actually playing. I know he was raw coming out of college, but a year as a backup in the NFL going into year 2 in the same system is incredibly important to think about. I think what happens with Geno/Fitz/Hoyer becomes very telling about what the organization thinks about Petty. If Petty isn't at least the #2 next year, he may never play for us.

Its scary that so many fans here think just because Fitz , who is an average QB skill wise , did what he did in this offense last season , that any QB of lesser skill can do the same thing.

Its like people need to see it before they realize just how much of a disaster it would be.

If IK never punched out Geno last year and he started a majority of the season , we would most likely be picking top 5 in the draft this year and this board would be filled with meaningless "Fire Bowles" threads instead of meaningless Brian Hoyer threads.

True, but Fitz showed what a QB who possesses intelligence can accomplish. This is the antithesis of how ge-NO approaches the game.

Would Hoyer be a better fit than Fitz? Prob not, but at least he would be a better overall fit than our so called "back-up"

I could not disagree more -- If Geno started last year with the schedule, offense and weapons we had, we would have been no worse than 9-7 but probably the same record.

We won ZERO games because of Fitz, but many despite him.

It is fucking retarded that anyone thinks Fitz is any good and I am not trying to say Geno is any good. It is comparing shit to shit.

and I'm going to respectfully disagree with that assessment

With ge-NO at the helm, I doubt we would have won more than 5 tops....

    Um. No.

You think Marshall and Decker have the same seasons with Geno trying to get the ball to them?

    Come on

5 is probably a good number because of the weaker schedule.

But thats under the idea that he would've played a full 16 games without Fitz replacing him. Very doubtful IMO.

Geno would be gone already if the coaching staff thought of him as poorly as some of you guys do...He definitely has played poorly in 2 seasons that he probably should have been benched and learning for under the worst offensive coaching staff in the NFL for a young QB

He's a somewhat unproven player with good physical traits and probably not so good mental traits....That doesn't mean the game can't slow down a little and he can't cut down on mistakes

I realize some people won't ever change their minds because they saw Geno make some piss poor mistakes as a rookie or whatever but the book isn't closed

If it turns out he just won't ever get it oh well but it can't hurt to see what he's got in the pre season

If the Jets draft a QB, there's no way he starts, so your logic doesn't follow imo. If Fitz doesn't re-sign, and the Jets don't sign Hoyer, McCown or another vet QB, then the Jets will probably take a QB and Geno will start.

After Goff and Wentz, the only possible rookie QB I could see starting would be Connor Cook, and I would hate that. Geno might beat him out anyway. I would hate wasting a draft pick on Cook just in the hopes that he could start this year and suck a little less than Geno. I think he is just going to be yet another JAG QB that bounces from team to team in the NFL.

The rest of the QBs are projects and there's no way they could or should start. I'd rather have Geno, Petty and a rookie (other than Cook), than have Hoyer, Geno and Petty. At least there'd be some hope and potential with the rookie project that he could develop. There's no hope for the future with Hoyer. There'd be no hope with Geno starting, either, but at least we'd know that in the future we have a rookie that might develop, and Geno would have us in better position in the draft next year for a much better QB prospect.

Absolutely not. He isn't that good, would likely cost at least a 3rd round pick, and most importantly, isn't a good fit for Gailey's offense.

IMO that would be 100 times worse than Geno starting. Neither Glennon nor Foles are that good, would cost a draft pick (in Glennon's case, probably a 3rd round pick), and neither are a good fit for Gailey's offense. It would just be wasted draft picks and a wasted year. Better to let Geno start and then when he inevitably shits the bed, start Petty. I believe that Petty will be ready to start by mid-season this year, if not earlier.

    I did enjoy your
    however. LOL

What's even more disheartening is that there are Jets fans who would rather waste draft picks trading for Glennon or Foles, neither of whom would be a good fit in Gailey's offense, and Foles is about as bad as Hoyer imo.

If in the very small chance we draft Lynch, I would bet that he beats out Geno in a training camp competition

But we won't so it's a moot point
