In this scenario the below players have already been drafted & are not available. I know the list in't 19 players but rather the 15 players most likely to have already been drafted along with several players included in the poll. The purpose of the poll is to gauge how Jets fans feel about some of the players writers have linked to the Jets via mock drafts. Already Drafted in no particular order: Wentz QB, Goff QB, Miles Jack LB, J.Ramsey CB/S, Tunsil OT, Bosa DE, Buckner DE, Stanley OT,Hargreaves III CB, Elliot RB, Coleman WR, Treadwell WR, Rankins DT, A.Robinson DE, D.Lee OLB
I know immediately who it wouldn't be. I wouldn't take Ragland, unless I was satisfied that Spence's character concerns are behind him I wouldn't take him, and probably would not take Lynch, but if Gailey was convinced he could turn him into a quality starter then I would. At LT I think I like Spriggs better than Conklin, and with Clady healthy, don't think I'd take Conklin, either. I see Decker strictly as a RT and he would be tempting, but am pretty sure I'd take Floyd. He has excellent natural bend when rushing and very good speed. Those things can't be taught/coached. He's also pretty good in coverage. I'm pretty sure I'd go with Floyd and hope that Spriggs was there in round 2. Depending upon where/how I had Spriggs ranked, if I wasn't sold on Floyd, then I might try to trade down a few spots and take Spriggs.
I voted Floyd but doubt he will be there at 20. We would have to trade up to get him and I don't think thats a viable option.
I don't watch enough of the college game to know a great deal about the various prospects, although I suspect if the staff strongly believe Spence is over his past history, then he could be taken. As far as I know, he's a versatile player and considerable pass rusher. I like the idea of Lee as a young developmental LB, good in coverage. Having watched my first combine this year, I was impressed with Spriggs, although I know it's just a pads off track meeting. I think Spriggs will go early 2nd round and it would be great (if we have to trade Mo for a pick), to land him too.
Floyd would be the perfect fit. By a mile! I just think the Bears really like him too.... If he is there at 20 I'm almost certain he's the guy.
In a trade back scenario maybe.. Or a trade up scenario in the 2nd, OK... Not at 20.. We need more value there and IMO that player needs to start.. To many holes to not draft a starter at 20... The only way I'd be happy with that move is if they immediately cut Breno and used the money saved on Mo/Fitz. Put Spriggs at RT and let him play day 1.
We haven't used a first rounder on OL in ten years and it's showing. Gotta hope for the best but plan for the worst with Clady. I'd put Spriggs at RT for the year, should help him adjust to NFL speed, kick Breno inside to RG or cut him for cap savings if needed. Winters can warm the bench.
Floyd or Decker. Interestingly, NFL.com's 7 round mock draft has us taking Noah Spence in Round 2 (!) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-sevenround-mock-draft-teambyteam-projections
I'm going with Lynch this year. Lynch will provide the Jets what they need at qb for the next 2-3 years. That would be young qb competition. I say draft Lynch, trade Wilkerson to rebuild the Oline, and resign Fitz. That way we don't have to play either Petty or Lynch for the next year or two. I'm all for going OLB, TE, and OL in this draft, but I feel that Lynch is the prospect that we can't get anywhere else in this draft.
Floyd, Conklin, or lynch......... Very tough decision if faced with all the above 3 on the board. I think I would lean towards Floyd though I have a funny feeling lynch is going to be a star.
I can't see Lynch... I think because 1-2 are going to be QBs that Lynch will be pushed up. I could see him go to the 49ers, Browns, Bears and Bills. Leonard Floyd would be a perfect fit! I just think he will be gone... Fuller the speedster from the Irish could be the speed we need at WR.
