HBO has a bigger problem that the cost of their service. People are disconnecting from cable at record rates and it's almost impossible to get a direct subscription from HBO via the internet if your service provider is not on their list of value added vendors.

I'm a Comcast customer who only subscribes to their internet service and I have no way to get HBO Direct.

That's HBO's problem. Quality programming but I will not pay $70 a month to Comcast to qualify for their service as an add-on. I need to be able to subscribe directly to HBO via whatever internet provider I have and not as a bundle based on having the providers cable service as well as internet.

HBO Now it doesn't matter who your provider is, it is a stand alone service. $14.99 a month and you can get the 1st month free.

The listed providers are Amazon, Verizon, Roku and a bunch of cable companies not named Comcast.

So if subscribe direct to HBO Now via any of them I am cutting Comcast out of the loop as well as any support with lag, disconnects, etc. It's not as bad as HBO Go was but it's still not smooth sailing on Comcast.

Anybody have HBO Now on Comcast who is not also subscribed to their cable TV service?

Those are just the payment methods. You can download the app and sign up through your android or iphone or amazon. Then after signup just use your log in on any computer or streaming device.

Went to Comcast's site and lo and behold they have a broadband + HBO service that is reasonable. However it requires me to get a set top box for the TV to manage the HBO + Stream option. No option to just stream HBO to other devices.

This leaves me either installing Comcast's hardware in my home, a step that I will not take, or going with HBO Now. If I go with HBO Now and I have problems with the stream HBO suggests that I manage the problem through my internet provider.

It's a Catch-22 still. And yes, it's Comcast's problem given that they're the cable monopoly in my area, however that doesn't leave me any closer to getting good streaming HBO in my home.

Luckily the 1st month is free so if it doesn't work out then you can just cancel.
