Hoyer went to 2 teams that have been starved for a franchise QB , and crashed and burned at both.

What makes you think he could be even an average starter if he came here?

I've seen nothing from him that would prove that.

Fitz>Hoyer, but this could get interesting leverage-wise.

I don't see hoyer doing what Fitzpatrick did last season numbers wise but I also don't see Fitzpatrick doing what he did last season numbers wise either.

I think they probably perform similarly for the jets in 2016 and one of them is going to cost more

Hoyer has a 10-6 record with the Browns...the BROWNS...Best winning percentage of anyone on that team as a QB since 99. Hoyer had 19 TD and 7 INT last year with only Hopkins as his go to guy. Not bad numbers. The preference is Fitz but if he doesn't come to his senses and Hoyer is available for $4 mill a year for 2 years then it's worth a shot.

They said the same thing about Fitzpatrick last offseason. Only with more teams

But like I said before , Fitz has atleast showed some flashes in Buffalo and Houston that he could be a decent option for us. What has Hoyer shown? Other than probably the worst playoff performance by a QB in the last 10 years.

Texans were so happy that he "led" them to the playoffs that they went out an gave an unproven Osweiler 20 mil a year to replace him.

Houston fans see him like we see Geno.

Im sure there are a lot of QB's in this league that would love "only Hopkins" as his go to guy.

His 10-6 record with the Browns earned him his Texans contract. It shouldn't earn him another one after he busted there.

We have more weapons on offense and a better coordinator than the Texans.

If thats the case then why go outside the organization? With that logic Geno or Petty could step in and do exactly what Fitz did last season.

The fact that we have better weapons and a better OC should be all the more reasons why we should steer clear of QB's like Hoyer.

if were judging Hoyer solely by how he performed in a win or go home playoff game we should consider how Fitzpatrick looked like pure dog shit in a similar game.

How quickly people forget. This is just another case of the grass is greener on the other side. Until that grass is on our side and people realize how bad of a move it was.

Im not judging him on that. You seemed to be when you said atleast Hoyer went to the playoffs.

They could still go that route but sign Hoyer as a back up. Three way competition.

oh okay lol. "what has hoyer shown other than the worst playoff performance..." kinda sounds like you are judging him on that.

look genius.. I dont even love hoyer as a player. he's fuckin brian hoyer, he's not that good. But we aren't exactly comparing him to Joe Montana here. The comparison is to Ryan Fitzpatrick who is also not that good. And Hoyer isn't asking for north of $12 million annually I dont think

Ever hear the saying "if you have 3 QB's , you have zero"?

Why give above average skill position players like Marshall , Decker and Forte a below average option at QB?

    Doesnt add up.

There are two reasons why Fitz is better than Hoyer. First, Fitz has started double digit games for the past eight seasons and put up respectable numbers for the past six. Whereas Hoyer has started double digit games for only the past two and only put up respectable numbers last year. (He may have won games in Cleveland in 2014, but he threw more picks than touchdowns and had a passer rating of 76.5. In other words Geno numbers.) And second, Fitz has demonstrated that he's a good fit for Gailey's offense, which Hoyer has not done.

Typical response by you. Get called out on a dumb statement like "atleast Brian Hoyer made the playoffs" and get defensive. Tim Tebow made the playoffs too ya know.

And I asked what has Hoyer shown in general? He's always been bad. Watch him play sometime and dont just look at boxscores and stat lines.. Everytime he has played a decent game its been against a horrible defense.

And with games next year against teams like Seattle , Arizona , Baltimore , Cincy etc , I dont think he's in a great position to come in and have even an average season.

A lot of QB's would rather have our WR group than "only Hopkins". And Fitz "decent" time in Buffalo earned him a chance in how many cities but we still took him. But I agree with you I don't want Hoyer. I don't want fitz either. I want to shoot for a franchise QB. Unfortunately there are 3 "possible" franchise QB's in the draft. Just need to keep taking a shot. And I'm not sure any are worth it.
