I think Baltimore is a good trade partner. Assuming the browns take wentz I dont think Dal, SD, Jax or Balt takes a QB.

I think Mo and the 20th is a fair trade, maybe throw in a middle/late rounder from this year or next years draft (we are low on pics this year).

I think mo is a top 5 DE in the NFL and a guaranteed pro-bowler who is still relatively young... yes high picks are valuable but you are not guaranteed to get a pro-bowl player even at pick #6. you can get jones or williams (who is not at this point better then mo) or you could get mingo/clayborne, its still a gamble.

I think this trade makes sense for both teams but the question is, do you think goff is a franchise QB?

Goff visited the Jets today. Also, The Titans have a "solid offer" for the 1st overall pick. It would take a crazy trade to go from 20 to 1 ...

    Definition of thinking too much.

So you would pass on ridiculous value because of a 5th year option.

Imagine giving Macc almost 24 hours to sit on the top pick in Round 2. He'd probably get a good deal done or we'd get a quality talent. Thats 4 day 2 picks

I understand Macc hasn't really been here long enough to get a good read on him but he doesn't really strike me as a guy who would sell the farm for 1 player, just sayin.

according to Connor Hughes the Jets are high on Paxton Lynch and he'll most likely be there at 20. I really don't want any of the first round QB's though bc I think Petty may be better than them all in the long run. I like Cook though in the 3rd round if he's there

None of those QBs will last till the 3rd round. Early 2nd at best.

Not anymore. The problem with Cook was his attitude problem, which was overblown because he wasn't voted a captain. I think he might go in the first after all and at best he could go to the Rams at 15. The only reason Lynch is getting more love is because of the physical attributes and athleticism. Cook is pro ready.

Depending who is available at 20, I would take Cook, cut Geno and not look back. And bring back Fitz.

For Cook to go first round.. to the Rams at 15.. you have who dropping? i'm guessing you have wentz/goff going to CLE/SF?

I don't like Paxton Lynch much with his duck ball passes. Too much air under his passes i can see him being picked off a lot.

I think Cleveland will absolutely take Wentz, Goff will go to San Fran pending any trades. You got Noah Spence who I think will fall along with Treadwell, the receiver. I am not a big fan of how Lynch throws the ball. He has a bit of a long windup. It will all depend on what the Rams do at 15. I hope they take Lynch so he's not in Denver or with us.

So how would you feel if we pulled the trigger on Cook at 20!?

Lets say: Decker, Leonard Floyd, Lynch, & Cook are all on the board.. who you taking?

In terms of those 4 players, I would take Cook. I really like Michigan State's football program right now and how they are prepping their NFL prospects for the next level. Fundamentals are taught in a league where a lot of collegiate players period don't get taught the fundamentals that allow you to thrive at the next level. I've been watching MSU for a while now, the kid will make some amazing throws and he can read defenses pretty well already.

I don't think Leonard Floyd is all that great as a pass-rusher, but he's a great versatile player that can do a lot of good things on the field. I just don't see him as a 10 sack a season guy that the Jets want. Decker IMO is strictly a right tackle at the next level. Lynch, I just don't think he's better then Cook mentally and he has a special ability to place the football only where the receiver can get it, he does it consistently.

I'm gonna look more into Cook now since your so high on him, because these other QB's look like some back ups IMO. Wentz is cool though.. but if he's a Brown...R.I.P

I recommend checking out the Michigan tape this year, Oregon Tape, and Ohio State tapes from the last 2 years [he didn't play that game this season due to injury]. Also the bowl games are good as well - shows you when Cook makes a mistake, he will make the defense pay if he gets another shot.

All are on draftbreakdown.com ... he's not a pretty QB by any means, but he gets the job done.

I can see Cook making a lot of really good plays and a lot of really bad ones as well. When he sees the blitz he panics.. sometimes just throws it up.
His offense wasn't all that in the film vs Oregon and Michigan.. his wide outs dropped a lot of big passes.

Also he's gotta throw the ball higher above the LOS.. i seen a number of his check down passes get batted down by lineman.

on the positive note though, he's running a pro-style O, his playaction is solid, pass on the run ability is way ahead of his time, and knows how to put the ball where only the WR can get it like you said, even though his WR's dont always get it.

And my god this kid is cocky as all hell lol!!! But if he walks the walk nobody can complain about it.

edit: oh yeah and he READS THE FIELD BEFORE PASSING!!!

The offensive line against Michigan failed him, so did his receivers dropping a lot of passes that game. I do agree, I think Cook didn't look to check down much and he went for the explosive throw down the field. You however, have to give credit to the Michigan defense that game, they played extremely well that day.

He needs to learn to check the ball down more-often, the thing also that bothered me is the MSU offense is too aggressive and doesn't look to check-down all that much so he needs to add that to his game. That's why his completion % isn't in the high 60s. He definitely needs to improve, but I see a guy that will improve on the fly as the season progresses, he improved every year at MSU. Footwork needs to get better, and he needs to let the game slow down just a little bit more. I think he's good against the blitz, but he needs to pick and choose his battles.

He's got some good tools to start out with, but if you have someone that can fix his footwork and teach him not to attempt to throw a TD on each throw, he's going to be a serviceable QB, won't be an elite QB but good QB you can win games with. Especially big games. That is the type of QB the Jets need.

I can see him working well in our offense.. Marshall and Decker wouldn't drop the nice passes they did at MSU. He'd probably be under the same crazy pressure the way our o-line looks. His scary passes look like the most accurate ones lol.. he can take a hit and still throw a nice ball.. just seems like when the corners or safety blitzed he just threw it up for grabs I don't like that. But like you said MSU has to give him check downs.

I for sure see a kid that can grow and he does look wayyy better than Paxton Lynch

Yeah, that's one of my issues with him as well. He needs to pick and choose his battles when testing corners. Corners at the next level will pick it off if he gets too aggressive. I think w/ Gailey, he can help Cook be passive aggressive and he can teach him to pick and choose those battles. Get the screen game going because he has a very quick release. He knows how to manipulate defenders using his eyes, I like his football IQ for sure. I think he would be good on a team with some veteran leadership.

He's a prospect you really need to look at each and every throw, you either like him or you completely hate him. I think he's better then Lynch absolutely.

"Well, I can make the argument that after Wentz, Jacoby Brissett is the next most physically gifted QB in this draft…[he makes] the kind of plays that you look at both in the pocket and outside of the pocket and think this guy has a real chance to be a quality starter at some point."
