And that's why he is not a good manager, on top of other reasons. I have disliked him from the day they hired him, I have heard the excuses of him not having players. They gave him the players and he still failed to Manage the team well. If it were not for Murphy they would have been knocked out in the first round last year. He does not teach his players to play small ball, and he refuses to play the best players when they are hot. He would rather stick to his platooning players instead of playing the best players. This team will underachieve with Terry as their manager.
Another knock on TC for me is this cow towing to Matt Harvey. Anyone who doesn't see that he clearly is not the #1 pitcher on this team is blind. Degrom made that clear last year, give it a few more starts if you haven't realized Syndergaard has passed him. By August he should be considered the #4 man on this pitching staff. I haven't heard - was Matz ailing or something? Why has Harvey had 2 starts before he has had any?
Better win tonight because tomorrow night we don't have that great pitching advantage like always. Fernandez is filthy
Not sure why Terry didn't pull Matz out of the game with Stanton coming to bat. Everyone saw Matz had nothing. Not at all surprise Stanton took him deep.
Wow, turned on ESPN and was surprised with a very crooked number for Miami. I guess Matz's no-hit outing at the end of spring training didn't mean what he thought it did. Pretty bad start to the season all around so far.
I think its clear that Barry Bonds has had some sorf of ehhhh effect on these Marlins hitter. Nah probably just some rust. Weather isnt great and the Fish do have a pretty underrated lineup when Stanton is in it. Looking at 2-4 with Jose Fernandez on the mound tomorrow is not a good feeling. These guys need to wake it up.
I have a feeling the Mets brought into their own hype. I guess they thought they can just toss their hats on the field and teams would simply roll over. Maybe a slow start is what they need.
Matz is overrated at this point in his career, I don't know why everyone thinks he is ready yet. He still needs another year as the 5 the starter to grow. He will get it, too inconsistent right now.
Inconsistent? You really cannot say that - he only had 6 starts last regular season and 3 post season starts and never gave up more than 3 runs. The Mes also won all but 1 of those regular season games and in that one, they had a lead and blew it after the pulled Matz. You can say there is not a big enough sample, but you cannot really use the term inconsistent. I blame last night of making him pitch after 10 days off - fucking ridiculous.
He's 24. On a lot of other teams he would be asked to do more than he is being asked to do here. Yesterday was not a promising start but he could just as easily have thrown 6 innings of shutout ball and nothing negative would be said right now. If it happens again next start then I think we start to get concerned..but even then I dont think it would require a minors trip which some "experts" have suggested. As a 4th starter he is above average.
Its early, but they're starting to slip into early 2015 mode already. I'd like to think this was a better hitting team than last year's version but I'm not so sure.
Well last season pre-Cespedes we were what looked to be all time bad. I doubt the team even comes close to that level this year unless major injuries hit. To me all they really need is a better than average offense to be a really good team. IMO hitting Wright 2nd and d'Arnaud 8th is hurting the team . But TC seems pretty reluctant to change the order , atleast as it stands right now.
