Holy sheeit. Great move Mac for a 5th round pick we potentially upgraded at the position if he is finally healthy. I think it's smart to trade late draft picks for established players like the Marshall, Fitz and now Clady deal.

Awesome, a fan of another team who isn't here to troll us. Best of luck with your QB situation; hopefully you guys have the space to trade for Kaep now.

I like it. If he is healthy for even one season, it is a good deal.

The issue isn't the compensation to Denver, which was minimal, but rather the the cap hit. If the cap hit is high, and especially if the guaranteed money goes beyond this year, we're banking on Clady to stay healthy, which is a risk.

Good move, some risk if he truly is injury prone - could be a waste of a lot of cap space.

The only way I would be against this trade is if Conklin is available at 20 and we do not draft him because we have Clady.

There are always those types, but in this case, if the cap hit is significant, sane people have reason to question the move.

I don't think any of the top tackles are going to be available at 20 but who knows really

Thanks! And don't worry, I exclusively reserve any vitriol for Raiders fans. I'm on the fence about Kaepernick, I could live with it but would rather have them be able to draft a rookie in the first round instead.

Clady won't have any guaranteed money against the Jets unless they alter the contract to include new guarantees.

And if that happens, Mac did his job and ensured we have a starting caliber LT for opening day.
I think Conklin making it to 20 is 50/50 he probably isn't going higher than around 15, but could surely be drafted before us.

I would hope and think so, which is why I said that would be the only way this Clady deal would not be favorable.

    I'll play devils advocate here:

Draft picks are the lifeblood for a team. We are starting to pay the toll for several years of bad drafting and relying too heavily on vets. While it is a late pick, it was very high in the 5th round vs. one of the last picks of the 7th. Teams like the patriots treat these type of picks. very differently. The "trade a mid to late pick for a vet" move started to burn us with Tanny. It was likely Broncos were going to cut clady anyway. We've likely eaten most of the cap savings we got with the brick retirement so we have to bargain hunt for QB once again.

That said, he plays all 16 games this year and we are a happy fan base.

For a 5th and we also get a 7th. Shit I'll take that risk any day of the week with a case of Pepsi on Elway!
