Let's take a look at potential Capitals opponents for Round 1:
    -New York Islanders-93 Points
    -Philadelphia Flyers-91 Points
    -Detroit Red Wings-91 Points
    -Boston Bruins-90 Points

Currently the Islanders are 1st Wild Card, The Flyers are the 2nd (which plays the Capitals) and the Red Wings own a 3 seed in their division while the Bruins are on the outside looking in. All of those spots could change in the final week. Should be exciting. Another question: Who came up with this format? It is ridiculous. Why can't the 1 play the 8 and then whoever is the lowest seed remaining would play the 1 seed in the 2nd Round? Odd. Makes the Conference Finals unlikely to feature the 2 best teams.

I like the divisional set up of the playoffs. It only prevents the two top teams from meeting in the conference finals if they are in the same division.

True. I was thinking an ECF with the Caps and Rangers or Caps and Penguins would be fun, but with this format that can't happen.

Headed to Verizon Center for a potential Round 2 Preview as the Caps host the Pens. Holtby looking to tie Brodeur's record with 48 wins.

    13 games tonight.

Only game tomorrow is Columbus/Buffalo. Odd scheduling.

and in another typical gutless Sharks home performance, they lost at home to Winnipeg

all seven Canadian teams missing the playoffs, by the way, the first time that's happened in the modern era (with the current teams).

The only previous time this happened was in 1970, when only Montreal and Toronto were in the NHL. Canada had two teams.

Well last night sucked. Nothing worse than Crosby winning in OT on your home ice. Celebrating like the ******** he is. Silver lining Caps played like garbage against a hot Pens team and still took it to OT, but disappointing performance.

Rangers lost to Isles. Are the Rangers bad or just ducking the Pens? Hard to tell.

Sharks won't make it far with their terrible play at home. After last night I don't think the Ducks can beat LA in 7. LA STL and CHI are the threats in the West. Not sure on Nashville anymore

Damn. Looks like they are headed to play the Panthers at the moment. Even with poor play, I could see Henrik win that series.

I agree with those 3 being the main threats in the West. I am an Eastern Conference guy obviously, but I think the West is going to be so much fun come playoff time.

Rangers could definitely take out Florida, but only because Florida is a young team. The threats in the East as of right now are Washington, Pittsburgh and Florida. Tampa won't survive without Stamkos and the Rangers are too inconsistent

Sharks have always been a gutless team.

Countless chokes at home this season against inferior opponents

If I were the Penguins, I'd rest guys tomorrow.

They have the second spot in their division, ahead of the Islanders.

Expect the Flyers to do their usual against their bitter rivals.
