Also has awkward pauses when just stares at a WR. You rarely see him reset too. But hey he's a supposed prostyle QB!

I have no idea where you are getting those CMP% from but let's for the purposes of this discussion accept they are true. The 300 yards passing stat is a bogus argument as Geno smith had a zillion of those. However, I also agree that he is not a top 10 pick but that's moot since QBs get over drafted every year. With all that said, I don't see how he is not a first round pick. He has flaws like every other first round QB but nothing you wrote there that's fatal.

There are many concepts of the pro style offense. It's not limited to what you said in your post. Expand on the knowledge of the route tree, reads, and formations. Does he get no credit for having knowledge of that?

Alot of college QBs stare down their initial target. It's up to them to expand their game at the pro level.

yea he has flaws but he's a winner right. FCS champ. 197 yards 1 TD 2 INTs vs Jacksonville State. That's your first round pick everybody.

yea. he made a couple nice throws but that's about it. he's a one read or run QB. mostly designed rollouts and screens. he missed one of those actually. his deep ball was bad. most of them were underthrown. one of them got picked. he had a nice TD run down the sideline. he missed on about 5 shoulda been TD passes. the worst pass was his 2nd int, it almost went for like a 60 yard pick six. Tell me how this is first round material.

197 yards, 1TD, 2int against the Jaguars. That's not too bad.

Oh wait. You said Jacksonville State. Oh

    LOL...

prototypical size and excellent speed for the position. Shows the ability to make the right pre-snap reads. Possesses a quick release and has the arm strength to make all the throws. Well-balanced passer that rarely misses on short-to-intermediate throws. Extremely mobile to extend plays and fast enough to move the chains. Vocal leader and hard worker.

hold up, my bad, that was Blaine Gabbert

    Here's Carson Wentz:

Tall with an athletic, proportional build that is made for the NFL position. Played in a pro-style attack with plenty of snaps under center. Asked to make NFL throws and showed he could do it. Stands tall in the pocket and delivers with a relatively high release point. Keeps ball high and tight in the pocket and can uncork it quickly with tight, sharp release and little wasted motion. Throws catchable ball with tight spiral. Naturally accurate passer. Sees lurking linebackers underneath and throws receivers open to safest spot in the passing window. Able to change arm slots and still throw a strike. Has plus deep ball accuracy and touch. Calm in pocket and has no problems sitting in and taking a hit to complete a pass. Excelled in structured passing attack that required him to read the entire field. Has athleticism to escape pressure and hurt defenses with his legs. Already able to feel pressure on the edges and slide around in pocket without dropping his eyes. Adept in play-action game at selling fakes and quickly finding safeties to help determine where to go with the ball. Intelligent with long list of academic achievements. Should be able to process and handle an NFL playbook quickly. Can play pitch and catch all day long against zone coverage.

Those are from the NFL.com combine reports. You almost verbatim just copied and pasted Wentz's strengths section into bullet points. GTFO

if Wentz goes to Cleveland, yikes.

Set aside where people should be drafted, their value and all that. Simply who is the best QB IYO in this draft?

Gabbert was a 1st round pick; so what's your point? Are you arguing that he will be a bust or whether or not he is a first rounder? You are the only person on the planet that think he is not. He will get overdrafted like every other QB but he is a first round QB. Geno Smith was drafted with the 39th pick, Wentz as a prospect is at least 10-15 spots better than Geno coming out IMO.

Lastly, I was pushing Wentz well before NFL.com ever had any analysis on him. Your love affair for Goff blinds you from every other QB prospect.

Doesn't it seem odd that Chan didn't go to Lynch's pro-day? Or is it because he is coming in for an official visit that Chan didn't go? Last year the team brought in Petty and Hundley for official visits but I can't find whether Chan went to Petty's pro day.

Goff's the only guy I think worthy of using a first round pick on
That's your argument now, wow. So because he's on par or better than other massively overdrafted busts, he's a first rounder. That's pathetic. I'm surprised you had to copy and paste nfl.com's report then, since you've been studying him so long. weird that I'm so blind to other prospects that I made a thread supporting a QB not named Goff.

I agree that Goff is the best QB prospect in this draft, although I admittedly havent watched him too too much to determine exactly how much I like him. I like Lynch more than you and think he should be a late 1st rounder. Wentz, without knowing too much, I think should be drafted where Garrapolo was and by a team that can afford to have him sit, like Garapolo, and not a team desperate for short team QB play (like our Jets).

Wentz IS a first round QB. Wentz WILL be drafted in the first round. Gabbert was PROJECTED as a first round QB and was ultimately DRAFTED in the first round. You are a basement GM pompously acting like you know more than everyone else on a message board. There's no real argument here. Now if you want to go ahead and predict that Wentz will be a bust like Gabbert, then that's an actual argument. Even though success in the NFL is impacted by so many variables (i.e., system, health, surrounding talent, coaching…etc.), at least a guy becoming a bust be proven through time.

I didn't copy and paste anything. Second if I did, what does that have do with anything? Is any of the items listed false? I'm not a paid scout, I don't have to come up with unique descriptions as I'm not really "studying" anything. I doubt you are in possession of NDSU all 22 tapes and/or attending live Byson games to do any true "studying" either. I had always dismissed Wentz solely on the fact he was a FCS QB until back in November when I had a chance to watch a bunch of game cut ups of him. Based on that I posted he was my favorite QB in the draft. I especially like that fact he that he looked like a QB that could be had late in the first. Apparently, when the paid professionals started to "study" game film for real a lot of them came to the same conclusion and now he has skyrocketed up draft boards.

Chan is old as hell and probably doesn't have bigger cares like some of these younger OCs out there. I doubt he goes to anybody's pro day. He probably watches film and will give his opinions to scouts & GM if they ask, he would probably show up to an in house visit, but I dont see a 65 year old coordinator who has seen it all in this league traveling the country for pro days.

At this point in his career he simply tries to make soup out of the ingredients they give him. To use that analogy he was brought in because he's not going to complain about the stove he is provided with (bowles) so he sure as hell aint gonna go traveling the country for groceries either (paxton lynch pro day)

Nope the QB coach will be the Jets future OC. He pretty much is the extension of Gailey.

This is a discussion board! We talk about players and what we think their value should be. The fact that he's going to be drafted in the first round doesn't mean he should be or that he deserves that value. I'm not acting pompous at all. I watched the tape and voiced my opinion on the player. I haven't said he'll be a bust, but I've made a case why he should not be a first round pick. A lot of other people don't think he should be either. All you've done is repeat generic scouting report talking points. He's got the size, he has big hands, he makes all the throws, etc. So do half a dozen day 2/3 prospects every year. Also, the paid "professionals" are notorious for being terrible at their job so whether they agree with us or not doesn't mean anything.

Every college offense has pro concepts. Goff played in the Bear raid and pro concepts are in that offense. I went over this countless time last draft season when folks said Oregon ran zero pro concepts(which was entirely false). NDSU runs power options, spread concepts(pistol and read pass options), and some pro concepts; And if Wentz does have knowledge of being in a tradaitonal offense, that's great but I can list 30+ plus prospects who came from prostyle offenses and were epic busts/players who didn't live up to expectations. It's a bonus, but to to write off , or elevate a player due to the system they were playing in is asinine. IMO, He's not that good right now... I don't see it. Maybe he'll be a good QB down the line, but if he's thrown into the fire in CLE, yikes.
