If Mo can't get us a pick high enough to get one of the top 2 QBs, I would rather a high second and a mid/late round pick.

id take the 3rd in compensation over moving up 9 spots to get a guy i could get at 20.

Then you are siding with keeping Mo this upcoming season and just let him walk. This would also give the Jets 1 last crack at resigning him long-term. We will have tons of cap space next year.

A compensatory pick is worth as much as a trade up from 20 to 11. The Jimmy Johnson chart says that trade up is equal to a mid 2nd rounder, but that chart overrates higher picks.

Yes, however getting to the top 11 could get us a shot at a really good LT. Ronnie Stanley's stock is dropping apparently, and I think Jake Conklin could be available at 11.

Very risky, but at least it could drop a lot of other good players down also.

The draft is too much of a crapshoot. Stanley and Conklin could easily be busts and there's no way to know for sure. I would be happy to use Mo to pick Wentz or Goff, maybe Tunsil, Ramsey, or Bosa. After that I'd rather get a second rounder than trade up in the first.

I wonder how many people would be OK with getting a 2nd rounder for Wilkerson... Say top 15 in rd 2.

At first, only a handful of people would be okay with it. Then a good amount of people would talk themselves into thinking it's okay.

What's the cap hit for tagging Mo a second time?

Maybe, but if the Jets trade with the Bears and get the #11 pick, unless there is a problem with his character/work ethic or some hidden injury, I wouldn't risk his falling to 20. I'd take him at 11 and not look back.

Everyone ought to be. It beats a bottom of the 3rd round compensatory pick next year plus the Jets get almost $16 million in cap relief.

If we swap the first round picks with the Bears for MO and get a second round as comp. Id take that trade any day of the friggin week.

You won't get a 2nd in addition to the trade up due to contract, but MAYBE you can get a 3rd, more than likely a 4th.

11 is where Roethlisberger and Cutler were taken. Wentz is the Big Ben possibility and Goff is the Cutler type. It could be a great pick to snipe a QB on depending on how other team's view the prospects.

Is there no chance of a draft day deal? While these move up scenarios are nice to speculate about, it seems to me that any team trading for Mo would want to work out contractual details on a long term contract as part of the deal. From our perspective, I think we'd be more inclined to move up if a particular player was available at the pick. I'm not sure there is any way to bridge that gap.

thats the big issue with the lets trade mo discussion. nobody is going to trade for him while they are on the clock because they would want to get him under contract before making the deal. they arent going to take him and hope they can convince him to stay. so the jets will have to trust what they believe is going to occur on draft day and make the deal prior to. then cross their fingers.
