No. Petty is better than all of them.

Use every pick we have in this draft on OLBs, ILBs, tackles, guards

    And a fucking punter.

Picking a QB in a weak class is throwing away a pick where we could find starters or depth at positions of need.

picking " need" players is a terrible plan

There is nothing this team has needed more for ages is a franchise quality qb.

Unfortunately there are none in this draft.

    Not reaching for "needs".

Not wasting a pick on someone you hope someday can be our long term backup QB while there are potential starting OLBs, ILBs, tackles guards and punters available in every round.

It's fine to pick based on need when there's so many needs. Unless the BPA when it's your turn is leaps and bounds better than the BPA at a position of need, grabbing a 7/10 OT is fine even if there's a RB that'd grade a 7.1/10.

    + a million.

Wasting a first rounder on dreck would be a total waste and picking a later round QB in a really weak QB draft in hopes of finding a gem but realizing it was a total waste when you could find starters/servicable players at pretty much every other position would be draft malpractice.

not even trying for that gem is malpractice also, because they are out there. you're assuming we hit on our picks at those other positions. historically we don't.

Mac seems like a savant because we went from one of the worst drafting teams ever to respectably decent but last draft left a lot to be desired. hopefully this one is better now that he's had time to put his people in place.

If you can grab Cardale in the 5th, sure. If it's Hack, I'd vomit. Anyone else and we're throwing picks away IMHO.

Give me a guard or WR in the 7th. Don't want a QB in this class in the 7th.

Mid rounds I like Vernon Adams. I made a thread about him. Jump on the R. Wilson-lite train. Mid-late I like Cardale and Coker. I'd take Brandon Allen in the 7th.

I cannot jump on that train.

He followed up my man love Marcus and every time I watched him last year (maybe 5-6 times) I was unimpressed because he wasn't Mariota. Admittedly I was spoiled.

I would really rather a guard or a RB in the mid rounds.

If we have Fitz, I would like Sudfield in the 5th round to compete with Petty. Trade or cut Smith. If no Fitz, Lynch at 20 if there, if not get Hakenberg in 2nd round if there. Last resort get Sudfield in 5th. Doughty in 6th round if all else fails, his 40 time was horrible, but he was once considered a solid 5th rounder.

Let be serious for a min... You keep thinking Petty this good QB? What has he shown you to think that?

Did you watch the Alamo Bowl? I mean hopefully you didn't because it was a f-cking disaster, but Adams won't last a full season. He wants to be Russell Wilson but doesn't have anywhere near the instincts or scrambling ability. He's always looking to make risky throws and then gets his bell rung. I love what he did at Oregon but some OLB is going to take his head off when he reaches the NFL.

I like Sudfeld too in round 5. I think he can throw with anyone in this class.

You haven't been a Jets fan long obviously, any QB we draft with a unknown is always the greatest ever.
