I think that in any normal football cricumstance (so no "coach's son" examples), Manziel wouldn't have been cut if he'd played at a 1st round QB level. The fact he played like a 5th round rookie was the main impetus for his being cut. The off-the-field issues wouldn't matter if Manziel played well. That said, this isn't going anywhere and it's speculation so we'll have to agree to disagree. To bring it back to the Jets, Geno is still on our team in spite of his off-the-field issues because his talent warrants it. When that ceases to be the case, Geno will be cut or traded.

Geno and Manziel have both been horrible on the field. Geno hasn't been a Manziel level trainwreck off the field so he's still here. That doesn't mean he should start.
He did not suck and certainly not enough to cut him after 2 years. He is a toxic dumpster fire. They didn't have to pay Gordon while he was suspended so there was no reason to cut him and why he did paled in comparison to Manziel. He was not cut because of his play. Geezuz. _

Geno007 is no different from the guys who backed Pennington or other marginal Jet Qb's from days gone by. Stokes, we're not gonna allow TGG.com to become some echo chamber that only allows groupthink on any topic. Its the difference of opinions that makes TGG what it is. During that time period, Pennington was on the downswing after his surgery and indeed, he was marginal. Two very different eras although the results remain the same for the most part. Relative to 2016, I would agree but hindsight is always... 20/20
Compared to the rest of the league during any given time period, No Jet QB is much to brag about considering the results over the last 47 years.
