Geno is a turnover robot.. He had a chance vs the Raiders to take back the job or at least buy him an extra week as the starter.. He miserably failed. Granted he got thrown in the fire and the team wasn't at its best but he needed to be better. He might get another chance given the Fitz fiasco but at this point my expectations of Geno Smith are extremely low due to his on field play and lack of leadership qualities a QB needs for his team to follow him.
When he was drafted I threw my remote at the TV because I knew 3 years, give or take one, of this bullshit was ahead... God it was unbearable in the beginning. at least now everyone but the trolls can agree that he indeed sucks... we're almost at the end.. Stay strong buddies!
In theory what you say makes sense but nope, sorry, it's a waste of time. When a QB I project to suck in the NFL plays in the NFL for two years and shows nothing other than suck, that just confirms that indeed my initial evaluation was spot on. Taking everything into account, geno is a disaster as an NFL starting qb. Fuck him. There are prospects twice as good who will never get a chance because they didn't go to a big time school and with stacked receivers and get media love like geno did.
There's no reason to have thought we were in for 3 years of Geno when we drafted. When Kellen Clemens was drafted in the 2nd round in 2006, no one was thinking oh shit we are screwed for the next 3 or so years. Geno was only a second round draft pick. I thought he would get, at the most, a chance to compete for the starting job that's it. If he performed well, he would get the job; if he struggled, there would be a very short leash like every other 2nd round QB before him and since. What I didn't factor was the Sanchez, more specifically the butt fumble, effect. The organization taking its cue from the fan base was so desperate to move on from Sanchez, that Geno was treated like a high first round draft pick. He was remarkably handed to job free of any real competition 3 years in a row. It's crazy; only the Jets.
Exactly. Expectations are everything. People expected Clemens to probably just be a backup in the end. When Geno was drafted the consensus was that a "first round" QB fell to us. The fanbase for the most part and FO thought they got a potential franchise QB. The media treated it like that also. That's why there was every reason to expect a few years of misery until it was undeniably obvious that he isn't. It's not just the Jets it's the entire NFL and the media that covers it. The analysis of QB's is regurgitated media-driven groupthink. it's extremely frustrating. I could rant for paragraphs about it but I'll spare you.
No not at all. It could be true none of us know. I would like to know how many used the "N" word when Geno did fuck up.
Geno: 27 Td Vs 35 int 57% completion ratio. Fitz 154 Td VS 115 int 61% completion ratio. Just some data for you....oh and Geno has twice as many pick 6's in 8 fewer seasons....
I would. because paying fitz 12-16 million has long term remifications. its a bad idea. id rather pay geno 1 million and go 5-11. we arent a win now/contention team, we still mid rebuild. we shouldnt be making short sighted overpays to mediocure qbs
Fitzpatrick had 21 td's and 28 INT's with a 57.7 completion % in his first 3 seasons before he got better, so yes QBs can improve.
When Fitz did played in 10+ games in back to back seasons. He had 17 TD's and 19 int's and 57% completion ratio.
Holy shit now this illiterate dick is playing the race card. Are you fucking kidding me? Couldn't think of anything else to troll the board with and perpetually bump the thread so now he resorts to suggesting we don't like Geno because he's black and we yell the "N" word? Time to lock this thread and dump it. Yeah, fuck off with that shit. Guess we all hate Mo and Marshall and Brick and Prior and Mauldin and Powell and Enunwa. Get this shit outta here. _
