Good game by the Caps. Worst shootout they have had all year though. It happens I guess. I was really surprised how physical they played with nothing on the line. I think the Caps would win a series with the Flyers, but it will be tougher than a usual 1 vs 8 seed.
Everything about the Flyers is dirtbagy. Haha. The players, the fans, but you know what? It's fun. Holtby dominated them last night. Allowed 1 goal on a deflection which he could not have possibly stopped due to not being able to see it, and they chanted HOLTBY multiple times after. Funny to watch their stupidity, but still terrible. Rivalry for ya.
looks like Detroit will miss. Islanders and Philly likely with the wild card spots. TB/Florida fighting for the Atlantic. out West, Nashville and Minnesota get the wild card spots. Question is whether Dallas or STL win the Central and thus get home ice for the WC playoffs, and whether Anaheim or LA wins the Pacific. Otherwise, basically set. Dallas may get Seguin back for the first round, but it'll be tough to win the division without him for the final regular season games.
Some mathematician did a chart and it has the Kings-Pens as the Cup and the Flyers knocking out the Caps Round 1. I don't know how he came up with these percentages but many of them seem ridiculous. My guess is he just figured in how teams did in March or something. Not knocking on the Flyers but the Caps are 2-0-2 against them this year and played them evenly last night when the game had opposite meanings for both.
56% for Philly? I don't know what he's basing these numbers on, but 25% for Philly would be more realistic. I can't really see how anyone could view an Eastern Conference team as the favorite in a series against Washington. I would say Washington has about a 40-45% chance of reaching the Finals, simply because they're very likely to win their first round matchup, and more likely than not in the ensuing rounds.
Keith suspension not announced yet, but likely will be more than 5 games, which would thus extend it into the postseason.
Agreed. But to me Philly is the worst possible opponent for the Caps. That 1st line of theirs is dangerous...and if Mason can be halfway decent they will take atleast 2 games from the Caps. If Washington had to play Detroit they would've handled them easily. If they dont make the Finals this year though Im not sure they ever will. Something tells me they slip up on their way there though. Probably in the ECF's.
Philly plays the game that western teams play, gritty, physical and dirty, they get to the front of the net and punch guys in the face at every opportunity. But that will back fire because it will give the caps the PP and they will pull out the series.
Pisses me off as Devils fan but they are a real good team this year. Finally getting some good goaltending and Schenn has been a breakout stud on that top line. I def dont think they will beat the Caps but they will be a headache for em. Caps in 6. They just better watch out in the 2nd round.
Stamkos out 1-3 months with a blood clot in arm. Probably has played his last game as a member of Tampa Bay.
You guys want to see a brutal game, Pitt is playing Philly! There should be some serious penalty minutes handed out in that game.
They really hate each other, fun game to watch as they kill each other and especially Cindy takes a beating
