There's some validity to what you are saying but let's be clear system is near the bottom of the list of reasons why Geno has struggled early on in his career.

The problem is that he came in directly after Sanchez so fans weren't as tolerant to his struggles. That's one of the factors imo.

I'd argue the opposite. Sanchez left with such disdain from this fan base that Geno had the benefit of not being Sanchez. The belief was and for some still is anyone would be better than Sanchez. You'd be hard pressed to find another QB a team did not invest a first round pick on who struggled as much as Geno and yet got 29 starts in their first 2 years. Struggling 2nd or later round picks before and since barely got half that many chances. Geno has Sanchez to thank for that.

Your right. Being young and no talent around him. One thing I don't get why people love Fitz? He turns over the ball alot also but he been in the league 11 years and still makes rookie mistakes.

Just following what other GMs have done. Here is the list of QBs drafted in the 2nd round going back 20 years from when we drafted Geno:

    2nd round picks the past
    Kordell Stewart
    Todd Collins
    Tony Banks
    Jake Plummer
    Charlie Batch
    Shaun King
    Quincy Carter
    Marques Tuiasosopo
    Drew Brees
    Kellen Clemens
    Tarvaris Jackson
    Kevin Kolb
    John Beck
    Drew Stanton
    Brian Brohm
    Chad Henne
    Pat White
    Jimmy Clausen
    Andy Dalton
    Brock Osweiler
    Geno Smith
    Derek Carr
    Jimmy Garroppolo

From this list I think only Tony Banks, Andy Dalton and Derek Carr has gotten the chance to start their first 2 seasons. Dalton and Car put up solid numbers while Banks was bad (as bad or slightly better than Geno). This is just some perspective to show how rare of an opportunity Geno has been given. 90+% of the guys on this list, most of the QBs drafted later and even a small number of guys drafted higher did NOT get the same opportunities. If your idea of a GM coincides with the guy who ran the Rams when Tony Banks was under center, then maybe you should take a look in the mirror and repeat your post to yourself.

Surrounding talent has nothing to do with constantly throwing the ball late.
Surrounding talent has nothing to do with missing meetings.
Surrounding talent has nothing to do with routinely running out of bounds and/or failing to throw the ball away when are outside the pocket and behind the LOS.
Surrounding talent has nothing to do with getting your jaw broken in a confrontation with a bottom of the roster teammate over what amounts to couch change with respect to the amount of money you make.

I guess all the GM are wrong when they say if you have a young QB you must surround him with talent? Again those thing ur saying all sounds like a young QB. Why do u think Fitz had a career year?

None of us is a GM and we have not been in a position to evaluate Geno on a daily basis. If the people hired to do the job see him as cost effective then we will see if they are correct. Too much for a journeyman like Fitz. seems to give them pause. Their call not ours.

Until Geno struggled and reminded fans of Sanchez. Their patience was thin.

The only real football criticism here are holding the ball too long and throwing late, both of which can improve or be mitigated by the right system and surrounding talent. Fitz, for example, can't go throw progressions and can't throw deep, but his problems are covered up by system and/or weapons. Geno's issues could have been covered up the same his first 2 years if we had either the system of weapons. Thankfully we now have the right system and talent and it looks like Geno is about to get his chance. Go figure.

Circumstances, upside and talent seem to more predict their number of chances imho. When you subtract players that were given a good enough supporting cast and yet failed, your list shrinks. If you subtract players who obviously lacked pocket passing talent, your list shrinks. When you subtract players who were/are too physically limited, your list shrinks. When you subtract players whom are sitting behind veterans, your list shrinks. Geno is one of the player who by dint of his circumstances (low receiving core talent), upside (high) and talent (high) are still playing. The fact he's in his 3rd year now is probably evidence coaching staffs think he's good enough despite some of his play, similar to Brees, not that he was "given more chances". Afterall, out of the 3 2nd round guys you say survived the attrition, 2 (Brees and Dalton) are Pro Bowl QBs.

That's a good sign because it's not like Geno is going anywhere for 2016. He'll be starting.

I notice we still haven't resigned Fitz like you said we would. Guess that's more evidence you don't know what you're talking about, but I digress.

    Hey, we're all guessing here.

    I'm guessing we sign Fitz.

You're guessing Geno doesn't suck moose cock.

More evidence that you don't know what you are talking about.

    But I digress.

You sounded giddy and confident like a little kid. I see time hasn't dampened your enthusiasm--trust me, it will. When Geno is starting QB next year I hope you'll just swallow your bitterness and root for a different team.

See, I'm a Jet fan and will root for the laundry.

You, as a Geno fan, will you follow him out of town like those jerkoff Tebots followed Tebow out of town?

You can take your trolling to a new team's board.
