Off seasons certainly have their similarities. But also their differences. Three years ago we were trying to figure out Idzik, who was new. Two years ago we wondered whether he had learned anything from his first year as GM, and saw the answer was apparently not. Last year we saw another new GM and a free agent spending spree. Plus a new HC. This year we have the novel experience of the team trying to extend a decent Qb's stay with the team, while not much other than I guess Wilkerson and OL issues of concern. But yeah, it's still a time with boring stretches.
You want to know what I want to know.... just how coffee is Macc drinking right now? Because honestly, sitting waiting for the market to play out, I'll bet it's a lot!
I'm just picturing him with his cell phone looking at news of Hackenburg's quotes, waiting for a hot cup and going.... "Fat chance, now."
If Hackenburg believes that bad coaching turned into a bad QB I hope for his sake he doesn't end up in Buffalo.
I agree. Having two great receivers and a great offensive coordinator made all the difference. Brandon Marshall made a lot of great catches because the passes were bad.
He's been responsible for countless Jets losses. Him being responsible for only 2 last year is a step in the right direction.
What i don't understand is how people can say giving fitz this money is mortgaging the future of the jets. 2 years at ~15 is a fine deal. By the time that deals over almost all of our veterans will be off the books and our window will Be closed.
We don't have 15m for him his year so we'd have to push someone else's cap hit forward so it's not a two year bite it's actually a three year bite.
Not even a slim chance. We have what, 3 guys on our roster who in two years will be really good players? Win now. Worry about 3 years in 2 years. We have one of the most talented rosters on the offensive side of the ball. Let's not make the same mistake we did in 2009 with Sanchez --> Don't give the keys to a Ferrari to a kid who just got his permit.
Fitz either accepts our offer or he hits the bricks and signs with some other team for less money, and becomes the backup, or he is the starter with much less talent on the field to help him. If !!UGH!!! geno is our starter so be it. Hey he may even win us 2 or 3 games with his talent while losing 5-7 games with his QB IQ. LOL
Somewhere from 12 - 15 per year. I would tell Fitz to take a hike if he wants Osweiler or Cousins money. Win now --> Compete for the Lombardi. The Jets were just as good as any team in the AFC last year. They squandered a tremendous opportunity last year by choking to the Jills in w17. In 2 years, Revis, Marshall, Harris, Decker, Forte, D Brick, Mangold are all going to be on the downside of their career or wrapping their careers up. Who do we have left? Pryor? Sheldon? Wilk? We don't have anyone to look forward too. Go compete right now and worry about the future in 2 years. If Fitz wants a 3+ year deal, tell him to go walk as well. 2 years or bust.
I mean I guess we can look forward to the people that we draft in the next two years as well as last year. It's crazy. It seems like new players enter the league like almost every year.
