Syracuse is the first 10 seed to ever make the FF. Wichita State three years ago is the only 9 seed to make it. LSU, George Mason, and VCU made it as 11 seeds. 1-11 now all covered. No team seeded 9th or lower has advanced to the title game.
8. They tied for the worst seed to make the finals. Three 8 seeds made the finals. Villanova (won the title), Butler (lost to Duke), and Kentucky two years ago (lost to UConn). UConn was a 7 and the second worst seeded team to win. The worst was, as above, Villanova.
