Regarding my suspension... As Petro noted, Stokes is a repeat offender, which is the reason offered for his being longer than mine. But to be clear here, I am not at all clear why I was banned. Is it because calling someone here whose posting style is a faked evenhanded cynicism, but one only used to attack one side of the debate, a faker is a bannable offense? I checked through my posts leading up to the ban. I even explained why Stokes should be seen as objectionable here, that being he uses a cynical pose that "Everyone sucks! Both sides suck!" to attack those he disagrees with politically, having also identified himself as a conservative. And only attack those who he disagrees with politically. Are we having an honest debate here or not? We of course have our avuncular sardonic poster here as well, espousing a different form of sophistry. But even he I think would be loath to say we should have a dishonest debate rather than an honest one. I think it is a phony position to say that Democrats and progressives who see the GOP coming apart at the seams are somehow naïve for thinking their party is in better shape.
